2003 Cobra at Bristol Dragway
I just got back from the Fun Ford Show with one of my friends(mustang guy) and got to see two 2003 cobras run. This is the first time a 2003 cobra has run at Bristol. The first one was a convertible and it left with the traction control on and no wheel spin, it ran a 12.73@111. The second one was a hardtop and it left the same way as the convertible(with traction control on and no wheel spin) and it ran a 12.43@116. These things have gained my respect since they can run that fast here at Bristol. No doubt with a set of drag radials or slicks it would have been in the 12.0-10's or even high 11's.
Just thought I would pass on the info.

PSJ I guarantee that 116 at Bristol was not on a stock pulley....the best mph I've seen out of a ZO6 is 110 there.....that Cobra was B O O S T E D .

I tried to track down the owner of the car buy couldn't find him to find out what all he had done to it. 116mph is fast here so I would say that you are right onfire about it being boosted.

Considering that the quickest a Z06 seems to run at Bristol is 110, and they normally run 114-116 (some better) at sea level tracks, and this 03 Cobra went 116 at Bristol, then common sense and 3rd grade math would suggest that at a sea level track, this Cobra would run 120-122 mph. Correct?
That would be pretty good, I'd think, for a heavy convertible with a few of bolt-ons.

It is only a matter of time before someone gets one to run into the 10's. It may require a different supercharger and some weight reduction.

Not to take away from the new cobras but boosted cars , whether it be turbo or supercharged are not affected by elevation as bad as NA cars are.

You're correct Mr. Cosby.....I've followed Bristol since 1981. It's not only elevation (which is horrible in the summer 4-5500ft). But the tract was rebuilt with a 1% upgrade for the Nitro cars...it runs 13 feet uphill from start to finish...some tracks run -13 feet down hill(which is also NHRA legal)...that is a 26ft difference...think that effects et?
