remember that density altitude are so important (esp the mph) in drag racing. i am sure the DA was worse. also who cares about HP down low? it is up top where you are running the vast majority of the time, if not 100%.

I do not know the DA in Florida. Never even considered it.. There are guys down here running 119mph and better.. However, everyone was doing bad that day at the track...

32psi seems really high for Nittos doesn't it? I'm still on street tires, but from what I've read on the boards you need to drop the pressure and heat them up really well. Since you drove right up to the staging lanes, you probably just skipped it and left the 32psi in there. Anyway, great times if you ask me. I'm still stuck in the 13's.

Why in gods name are you shifting at 6000rpm with a 226/226 XE-R cam.
Throw that rev limit to 7000rpm and shift 1-2@~6800 and 2-3@~6700 and 3-4@~6600

You have an easy 3-4mph will higher rpm shifts LOL

Cheers,
Chris

Yes Vince I would take it to at least 6800 with your forged bottom end and all that you have. You are leaving something behind on the table also weather was not all that great I see and You havent been to the track in a while. You will get it back bro.

Well Chris I was frustrated after my next pass and kept hot lapping her. I tried to shift at 6500rpm, but I think I was getting some KR.. It was laying down between the one two shift.. I'm going to connect my shiftlight this weekend if I have time.. So I can be dead on.. I was shifting early secondary to my last dyno showing I was at 400rwhp at 6k rpm.. I only dyno'd 402rwhp.. Going higher seemed kind of mute.. Oh yeah, my rev limiter is set at 7200rpm..

Don't let it discourage you at all Vince, your times will only get better. Great 60 foot for a street start btw! You should be shifting around 6500 rpms from what I saw of your most recent dynos. Good luck with the new exhaust setup!

Vince,
You want to be shifting about 500rpm past your power peak minimum so a 6500-6600rpm shift point would work great.

A shiftlight will definitely help a ton.

Best of luck with it.

Chris

ps- Do you have ATAP for your car? You could record your runs and check out the KR. Also what gears are you running? 4.10-4.30 would probably work best in your combo with a 26-27 inch ET street/QTP or slick equivalent.

Thanks guys.. I am running a 4.10 gear.. I am going to practice more on my 60 ft times for now.. Wait for a cooler day to really beat the track up.. Shift light is going in soon.. I am just busy right now. I will shift at 6500rpm next time out.. Maybe it is time for some new Nittos.. I've had these for 15k miles now.. Funny thing is they still look good..

Default My first shake down run on my new setup.. I am rusty..

I went out this weekend to see what she would do.. I drove 40 miles to the track and my only cool down was the time it took me to fill out the card and give it to the guy.. I decided to get right in the staging lanes and run a kick pass only shifting at 6k rpm.. Raceweight was 3760lbs. Nittos tire pressure at 32#'s. I did a street start at the tree..

R/T... .461
60'....1.875
330....5.282
1/8....8.058
MPH....89.45
1000...10.434
1/4....12.402
MPH....114.44

I was a little disappointed secondary to my previous best with 3.42's/T1 and headers was:

R/T.... .465
60'....2.015
330....5.02
1/8....7.78
MPH....91.20
1000...10.248
1/4....12.282
MPH....116.81

It was the same time of the year. My raceweight then was 3750lbs and I had 30#'s of air in the tires.. Granite I was shifting at 6800rpm..

It's been almost a year since I took her to the track.. Maybe I am just rusty.. I am also in need of a tune. I lost 30rwtq and 15rwhp down low from swapping cams. I am running pig rich though when I first get on her.. After my frustration I started hot lapping her which only netted worse results.. I think I was getting some detonation as well when I tried to go above 6k rpm. Maybe I need to try some race gas next time out.. Oh yeah, the cutouts were closed.. Previous setup I dyno'd 390rwhp/380rwtq.., but I figured the 4.10's would get me down the track quicker.. The 95 plus degree weather did not help either.. What would cause my mph to go down? I was hoping for 118mph..

Vince,

I would consider putting in a 6600rpm pill and set your rev limit to 7Krpm

In first by the time you react to the light you will be around 6800rpm (perfect rpm to take advantage of the 2.66x4.10 gearing in first)
Then 2-3 will be around 6700rpm and the same for 3-4.
I think that is your best bet for better ET/mph.
Best of luck
Chris
ps- Dont count on the factory tach, the shiftlight should be in before your next trip to the track
Cheers,
Chris

That is what my friend said as well.. Set it for 6600rpm... I will see if I have time this weekend.. I have to go back to the dentist on Friday for a tooth removal. Damn Wisdom tooth.

You can look at my stock tach and Autometer tach at the same time cruising down the road, and see just how different the two read. There's a big difference when I rev the engine. The factory tach is slow as hell.

How much of a difference is it rpm wise. I watch it and I anticipate the shift and I shift right at 6k..

Depends on how fast the engine is actually revving, I suppose. The faster it's revving, the more lagged behind the factory tach will be.

At cruise, it looks like my factory tach is off 2-300rpm or so.

Good to see you finally got back out there. Shift at 6800rpm like everyone said and check out the DA.

Good 60 on nittos at 32psi though!
