Default speedshifting?

guys,

I hate to sound like a newbie (cause I'm not) but I am kind of argueing with a guy over the definitions of speedshifting/powershifting.

as I have always heard/used speedshifting is holding the gas down and popping clutch. powershifting is cluthless shifting checking the throttle.

what/how do you guys define these?

When I do the all out fastest shifting, I hold the gas pedal to the floor and use the clutch to shift, never letting up on gas. I call this
"Power Shifting" You must do it quickly... or ???
Also hope you never miss a gear.

Using a regular transmission like a Lenco (no clutch)can be a disaster.

With an unmodified trans (ie...still has all the stock syncro's), you can't shift under power without the clutch. You can let the engine wind down to make the tranny speed, but that takes too much time, so there is no point in doing it (racing).

Powershifting is putting the gas on the floor and never letting it up. Stab the clutch and get off it as quickly as possible. While it is stab, run the shifter into the next gear...again...as quickly as possible. This is very hard on the driveline, but will result in the best ET's...assuming you have traction.

Speedshifting is....well...I don't know what speedshifting is. I powershift, or if traction doesn't exist (or trans is weak), I do lift-throttle shift....quickly. Perhaps that is 'speedshifting'?

I have always heard speedshifting as you guys explain powershifting.....I thought/heard powershifting is checking the throttle and yanking the gear...this was of course with old "rock crusher trans" that maybe could take the abuse. I have always shifted as you guys with clutch and gas on the floor. I guess my terminology is just wrong.

Like the others said:

Speedshifting - Letting off throttle, depressing clutch and changing gears "speedy like".

Powershifting - Holding the gas pedal to the floor (never letting off the "power") and tapping the clutch as you run thru the gears.
