Default First 8-second LS1 at car show

Don't know the guy, but he drives a huge rig with a huge trailer ($150,000 set up). Inside the trailer is two LS1 cars...one black T/A Coupe and the other a T/A CE Convertable.

The yellow T/A has a Procharger and Nitrous on it and he claims it runs 8 seconds. However, he showed up at KilKare and didn't run because of a spun bearing.

Any way, thought it was kind of humorous that this guy is running around claiming his T/A convertable runs 8s. When you look at the car, it isn't set up for racing at all. No cage, huge subs for the stereo in back, etc. All show and no go if you ask me.

He also had his web site plastered all over the trailer (www.1badls1.com). I went there and there is nothing there at all about either car. This guy seems like a phoney with lots of money and a real need to belong. His name was Duke ??? (can't remember the last name).

Any one know this cat? If I am wrong, I totally apologize for this post, but I get the feeling I'm not wrong.

That's it!? You just walked away? Man, all show no go, and claims he runs eights! Haha. Why didn't you stay there and start asking him a bunch of technical questions? See if you couldn't catch him with his foot in his mouth.
There is no way someone could run eights with no chassis support like a toll cage or subframes. Ha, im mean heck, Tbyrne has that and runs what? 10s?

Maybe he was referring to his 1/8th mile times.

That might be the guy who was supposedly dropping of his car at GWP for a huge mega dollar buildup complete with minitubs.

There is another guy who had a magazine article who I think is also puffing up his actual times but I'm not 100% sure, but it's TA from maybe PA.

The guys name is Ron Duke. He is a local in Detroit. I think he has 4 or 5 T/A's now, none of which have truely even gone faster than 10.50 or so. He has had a car partially done at APE but could not take the long wait, so he went to FLP and blew up a few motors there and then went to GWP and is supposedly in litigation with them for over billing or something. He has spent an obscene amount of money on all these cars but none have really ran that well. Considering all the money he blows on cars it is a bummer.

btw: did he actually say he has run 8's or he wants to?

It was the big *** Pontiac rig that you saw. The plates on the rig say "IRUN8S". So if that isn't claiming 8's, I don't know what is

I saw the rig and I'm pretty sure it said something about being the first 8-second LS1 or something to that effect. When I first saw the rig I thought it was Pontiac's!!!
