SAM The BeaSSt goes 9.75 N/A
Well it was a good & bad night I guess. The air was great and the track was hooking. First pass off the trailer produced the following:
60' 1.348
330' 3.995
1/8 6.210
MPH 111.21
1000'8.129
1/4 9.754
MPH 138.09
That pass was on the trans brake at 3000 rpm and the car barely lifted the wheels. We thought we cured the wheelstand problems with resetting the Pete-Z bars to neutral & stiffening up the shocks. Obviously we did not.
We felt there was a 9.6x in the car so stepped it up & left off the brake at 4000 rpm and produced a nasty wheelstand that claimed the oil pan again Nothing like Pains but bad enough to end the night.
Not too bad for the second shakedown session.
Big thanks to Pat from SAM for driving for us & Chris & Mike for giving us a hand. We will try it again in about 2 weeks
Good to see everyone again, Tony, Edgar, John, Greg.
We feel the car will run a 9.5x-9.6x when its all sorted out. There might be a glide, wheelie bars or a skid plate in our future or maybe all three

Damnit, you almost made me choke on my water when I read "skid plate". LOL!
Congrats on the new best ET, sorry that Son of BeaSSt didn't get some NHRA license runs though, I'm sure he is drooling on the sidelines

DAAAYEM Dave, I was hoping to see a 9.6X. That's a bummer about the nasty wheel stand and the damage.
HMMM wheelie bars or a glide? I'll be asking myself that question all day. Bummer wheelie bars are not allowed in the modified street class at the Northern Shootout. Maybe they will reconsider?
Get that BeaSSt fixed up SOON Dave.

Damn Dave, I'm tired of crawling under this thing hehe 1000 is a BIG change between the two launches... The suspension has to be set up for a certain RPM launch, then launched there every time, or re set up for a new RPM... I'd say 4K is probly where we need to launch, but we have to set her up for that! A glide will help though... hell, the added weight of a skidplate may be enough to keep her down hehehe

Congrats once again on the new best Dave, sorry to hear about the oil pan woes. Have you all thought about running the Afco Shocks or are you still going to run the HAL/QA1's?

WOW! What a sweet Hot Rod you have.
Let me know when you go out next. The Hot Rod and I may come out and play also.

congrats to dave and steve!!! I was out there to see the run pat made. It was impressive! Beautiful car, bad *** engine, can't wait to see steve in there. I think pat weighs a few more pounds. Ha!Ha! sorry pat. won't be able to see it run in the 9.6's till after the first of the year. Even when the pan cracked, Dave and Steve still had huge grins on their faces. If that's not character, I don't know what is. Don't worry guys, it will happen.

Congrats and my regrets at the same time. Hell if you keep this up, you'll be able to do a group purchase on oil pans all by yourself! Good luck invading the 9.50s and try to keep the nose down!!

Re: SAM The BeaSSt goes 9.75 N/A
congrats guys! It seems those oil pan-busting wheelstands are contagious! It's making some killer power. 138 MPH through a TH400 is crazy! Once the 'glide is in, you'll wonder why you didn't swap it in sooner. There's some ET to be gained. I'm getting antsy to make a few passes at HRP, so let me know when ya make it out there again.

Congrats to the Doubalooos!!!
Looks like the ET record for a stock suspended NA F-Body will be around a 9.50 or so by the end of 2003.
