Default 2000 vs. 2001

The 2001's seem to be faster because of the better intake. I was checking out info at Raughammers website and 2001 fbodies cams have less duration and lift compared to the earlier ls1 fbodies. Do the 2001s have better heads or exhaust manifolds?

People have been installing the new intake on the older ls1s with negligable gains. Youd think the earlier ls1s with the bigger cam and updated intake would be a strong setup. Whats the deal?

They have the same heads and manifolds.

Beats me about the cams. I'm not very familiar with them. Could it be a difference in LSA or degreeing? The '01s and '02s are damn sure running alot stronger than the '00s and there has to be a reason other than the intake manifold.

I've seen 00's with both the old and new 241 (better) casting heads. I believe it was a mid-year change (running out of old parts). Also, yes, the cam did change in 2001 to the truck cam I believe (less lift and duration). The manifolds were changed slightly removing the EGR provision in 2001, but otherwise the same basic tubular design.

I think tuning is a big issue too. 01-02 cars do seem to wake up very quickly with mods and tuning. It seems like the torque management got worse in 01 and 02 as well. I don't see nearly as much timing on 01's and 02's w/ stock tuning as on older cars in autotap logs.
