Do we need the fan shroud or both cooling fans?
I see on the weight reduction list that there is a spot for removing the fan shroud and one fan. I also remember a post about Terry Burger removing his driver side fan. Are there any downsides to this on a street car?

not sure how you could get away with removing the shroud. the radiator would flop around then while driving..might even end up hitting the front of the motor.
imagine you'd lose cooling capability with only one fan in the car, too.

You can remove the drivers side fan at the track for a savings of 5 pounds. (I havent done this yet but might this spring)
You do not remove the pass side fan or the shroud.
Cheers,
Chris

I don't know about the feasibility of removing the shroud and or one of the fans, but to clear something up, the shroud is not the upper plastic piece that holds the radiator in place. That's the radiator support. The fan shroud is the piece of plastic on the back side of the radiator that the fans are attached to. It just slides into four little hooks on the back of the radiator itself.
I would tend to think that you could get away with removing one of the fans for a strip-only type application, but I don't know about normal extended driving on the street.
