2/3/03 Hey Terry...
How come the trans would not lock up on the dyno yesterday?
Initial numbers seem okay unlocked, is that with the 242/236 cam?

John I think you mean 2/3/03 . I was there at the MMS dyno day with Terry, I believe his car was having tuning issues of some sort, and his convertor wasn't locking up but 460rwhp isn't bad for being unlocked thru a TH350.

Been busy with my house and work. The car was not running so hot tuning wise, but 460rwhp unlocked is an OK starting point. I'm hoping for 470rwhp unlocked and ~500rwhp locked when I get it sorted out. It's still got the 242/236 110ls cam, and I have my 229 229 114ls tuning in the PCM right now.
Not sure what's up with the lockup, but I'll have to pull the tranny at some point and check it out. It makes a clicking sound when I give it 12v but the lockup does not engage. Go yank. =/

Sorry to hear about the lockup issues. I am sure you will be belting out the big numbers and low ETs soon eough.
How much lift are you running on the cam?

Terry, drop me an email please... I've been trying to get a hold of you for a few days, but the email address in your profile doesn't seem to be working.
I just have a couple of simple questions for you...

I just looked at the sheet and it does say STD. Maybe they forget to turn on the correction?
The car might have done a little better than I thought then. Anyone know what the correction factor was? Either way I should have some updated numbers tommorow.

Re: 2/3/03 Hey Terry...
The tuning equipment was down today so I didn't get to play with the tuning at all, but I did get a few more pulls. My current setup is the 396 with a 242/236 .600 cam, yank TH350, Yank 4800?rpm stall, stock rear with 3.23s.
The lockup is not working but I hit 456rwhp SAE unlocked. The stall was flashing up to ~5400rpm(!!), which might be where some of my power went. With my old 4L60E/3800rpm stall/4.10 combo I was at 466rwhp SAE unlocked.
Torque was all over the place, I guess with such a loose stall it throws the dynojet torque calculation off big time. The dyno thought I was turning 8000rpm when I was only hitting 6800.
Anyway I was going to hit the track today but didn't make it, so I'll probably take a few passes next Thursday. I'm going to need a different higher RPM cam (maybe I'll try a 229 115ls), and some 3.73s soon.

I hope you get some runs with the current combo.
With a big converter you'll 60ft like a animal and maybe loose a little mph, but I'd really like to see what happens. Surely easy 10.4's?

Re: 2/3/03 Hey Terry...
The track Terry is talking about going to is only an 1/8. Terry, why don't you try changing the cam timing to extend the RPM before you go through the hassle of changing the cam? Mine should be running today if we can get the damn lifters sorted out. I am going to go solid if this last adjustment doesn't take care of things. I already have the T&D's...
