Default Mini Tub Question

I will be minitubbing the car myself soon. I've seen many people on here do it and I am a pretty decent welder, so I figure I will give it a shot.

What kind of minitubs should I get? What size do I need?

Thank You...

If you are replacing the inner half of the tub then I cut the tub in the middle and move it over. Then I just add 3-4 inches to the middle out of 24 ga. steel. Otherwise buy a steel tub kit from Competition Engineering.

What I did:
First I cut out the old fenders

Then I got a flat sheet of .030 Alum, I cut out a piece 10.5" wide, and about 48" long. I stuck it up in the fender from the bottom so the new fender overlapped some of the old fender. Once I got that piece all straight and where I wanted it I riveted it in place.

Then I cut a sheet that I could slide up from the bottom between the framerail and the new tub I just put in. Once I slide it all the way in I traced the top radius of the new tub, then I got under the car and traced the framerail. Then pull the sheet back out and cut it out on your lines, then slide it back in and you have your tubs

I did what BTL FED did, but I used tin and spot welded it every 1/2" or so.

100 dollars in materials but if you dont have access to a welder then the labor has to be very high no?

Yes the labor is quite intensive, so if someone else was doing it the cost could get up there

Yeah the welding is a bitch.LOL The cost is the MAN HOURS to fit the tub correctly to the car AND make both sides look the same. I tend to like show quality stuff(NRC and KTS are just like me) and it takes time. You just dont take a fire wrench and chop. You have to cut on the dotted line and then make a piece of sheetmetal fit somewhere it wasnt designed to fit.

Happy cutting and welding.
