Ticket for Hoosier QTP's?
Not sure where to post this but I figured drag racing section would have the most people with the qtps and possibly drive them on the street.
I got pulled over last night and the cop said they were illegal. I tried to explain to him that they are DOT aproved but he wouldn't let me get a word in. He didn't end up giving me a ticket but told me to change them. Are they or arn't they illegal? If I got a ticket could I fight it in court? My damn car is becoming a drag car but I love to drive it on the street, if only the cops would leave me alone.

the new QTPs say NOT FOR HIGHWAY USE right on the side so you would get a ticket, DOT or not.
Whether you would win in court or not I dont know but if you get a cop thats going to write you up for that he most likely will write you up for some other things that WILL stick in court

been there, done that.
cited for "unsafe tires", bullshit local thing to curb the street racers DOT did not apply, the judge even asked me why I couldn't have tires like his intrepid
now when I got a loitering/drag racing spectator ticket the cop didn't even bother to show up. But this time the judge told me if I was up at 4am, next time I should watch the cooking channel instead of street racing.
I'm getting to old for this ****

I don't even bother, because of who I work for if I get busted, even for spectating, I run the risk of losing my job.

I'll be going with ET streets and not the QTp's because of this reason alone. Now, if I can jsut find a 27x11.5 equivalant size in the ET street, I'll be all set.
Anyone know what the largest size ET street you can fit in a transam wheel well on bogarts before alot of clearancing has to be done? If I have to roll the lip a and hammer the inside a little I"m o.k. with that, I just dont' want to notch up the bumper cover and have it look like ****.

Excessive accereration? I didn't know you could get a ticket for hat if you don't actually exceed the posted speed limit. I'd have fought that one... who is to say how fast you can accelerate to the posted speed limit? I mean if you have a car that hooks good and can cut aq 1.4 60 foot time, it doesn't take you long to get to 45 mph say..... is it excessive because you floored it? If you're tires aren't spinning, then I don't see you using excessive anything really. I know it probably wouldn't hold an ounce of weight in a court, but still.... who's the judge on that? I'd like to see a law book that defines what excessive acceleration is.

I would "think" as long as the tire says DOT on the sidewall, does NOT say "For off road use only" or "Not for highway use" you should be able to beat an improper equipment ticket.
I'm in a little podunk town in GA. and the local boys have pulled me over, but end up talking about the car. Tires were never an issue...... even the less than "acceptable" exhaust has slid by under the radar.
Now..... I will say I've been pulled over and drawed on for what was considered "excessive acceleration", but was able to calm ol' boy down and left w/out a ticket or a ride in HIS "race" car. I think he was having a bad day

Was considering a 29" tire b/c I'm running a tall gear and swapping in an A3, but don't think it'll clear w/out some more "massaging".
