You will need to go to a 28" tire. Not sure who makes a DOT one though. I use a 28" Hoosier. Might be going to a 29" now.

I have a 28x11.5" Hoosier QTP on my car. A couple of the other locals are running this tire on their mid 9 to high 9 sec rides

I'm not running DOT, but I have run M/T 29.5x10.5x15S (car didn't like them) and the Hoosier 30x10.5x15R (car loves them). If you want to stay with DOT, what I have read, go with the M/T street radial - figure out the size - 275 or 295 would work for you. Many good things have been said about these.

There's a few guys around here using the M/T Radials in the 325 50 R15 size in the 1.20-1.30 60' range in the 9.50-60s...on pump gas..

I am running the M/T DR 275/40-17s on the street. I do like them. We have had wheels up launch's with them.

I am thinking the 28s QTPs might be enough. I am still running a 4L60E and have a much deeper 1st gear then a th400.

What do I have to mod to fit the 28s? I got the 27s mainly because they fit with out mod's

Thanks for the help!

yes yes I know they will on well prepped tracks. we don't always get well prepped tracks

When I was talking to the M/T rep's they were extremely suprised we were getting 1.4x 60s out of the 275/40-17s with a 3,800lbs 94 Z28

Again thanks for the info everyone! I think I am going to bump up to the 28s on my Bogarts

Youll need to remove the bumpstops and roll the fenders too, i tried to fit some 28'' MTs last year, but i didnt want to chop **** up.

15x10, they are not as big as 10.5x28 et drags so you dont have to do much beating or roll the fenders. I still have most of the bumpstops on with 10.5x28 ET drags and never rolled the fenders for them either though..

FWIW I ran 9.32 @ 148 with a one year old used pair of the 11.5x28s QTPs a couple weeks ago at the year one race in atlanta. Not a bad tire..

I run 28"x11.5x16 Hoosier QTPs. I don't have to roll the fenders and they clear no problem. NEVER had an issue with rubbing. Even before I put air bags on there was not a problem.

The QTPs are awesome!

I just went up from the 27" QTP to the 28" QTP and they look like they fit pretty good. I don't think I need to roll the fenders but I am worried about rubbing the bumpers. It only looks like about 1/2" clearance on each side. Anyone know how much these tires expand at high speeds?

My bumper and front 1/4s are BFH clearenced for 10.5x28 ET drags so there is a ton of room with the 28" QTPs. They will grow over an inch most likey, 1" all around is the minimum I would go, thats what I have for clearance with the ET drags and they will rub a little when they are new.

I'm not sure how much they grow, but I do know they don't sway around all over the place at high speeds like some other slicks do. Thats another reason why I like them.
