Default Summit "prostar" weights vs real prostars

Does anyone know what the new wheels being put out by summit weigh?

Not shure on the weight but I see they are a cast aluminum wheel, whereas the welds are forged

I also believe that the summit wheels do not have 7.5" backspacing.

I'm not looking at the 15x10 rear though, I'd be getting 15x8....would the 4.5 backspace be alright for that? Or would it stick out too much?

It would probably still stick out too much.

Hmmmmm....bummer.

Atleast the fronts should be good. They have the 1.75 backspacing on the 15x4s

There off by an inch there...... you need 5 1/2"s on a stock rearend with a 15x8.

i was just gonna post bout these rims. they look nice, thats for sure. And a load rating of 2100 lbs. And there cheap as hell. $119 ea. for rears and $89 ea. for fronts. I got a set of Welds in front and i need rears. Who knows how long itll be till i can get welds now. I might settle for the summit rears. For that price you can buy um and re- sell them when you can get welds again.

i love my prostars to death. these look really good to, may have to give them a try. i wonder if they will require grinding or as much grinding of the rear brakes like the prostars?

but just one ? here: how are the welds forged? they are a multiple piece wheel that is welded together with a spacer in the middle.

1" out in the rear isnt bad...I might have to give em a try.

I already have prostars for the front, but they're sorta beatup (I got em used) and was looking to replace them.

They're cheaper because they're cast in China. IT's one of the main reasons Weld filed Chapter11. Weight-wise, there isn't much of a difference. I'd be much more concerned about the quality of them. I have no problems driving Draglites or Pro Stars on the street, but I'd have second thoughts on these.

yep thats what i was told also.... there cheap because of the way they are made. i wouldnt trust them either..... and that 1" your thinking about that isnt to bad...... just wait till u hit your first bump and that 1" u were talking about decides your $160+ tire needs a big gash out of the side.......Fender.....

ummm, just because a wheel is cast, that doesn't automatically mean the quality sucks. ALL factory wheels on every vehicle are cast aluminum. These might even have more room on the backside than the regular Weld wheels, simply due to the nature of a casted wheel (more brake room).

Someone order a set and test-fit them for us

on the 15x8 with 4.5 backspace, it isnt bad at all. it all depends on what size tire you have. i have 26x10.5 et streets with 4.5 backspaced prostars and they dont stick out at all. it is actually flush with it. i have the back of my car lowered 1" and i have never had anything rub back there.

on another note, i had 29x10 goodyear slicks on it and they suck out about a inch or a little more.
