Default Should I be running faster?

A friend of mine keeps giving me **** about being so slow. Enough to the point that it has me wondering if something really is wrong.

My best run @ Bandimere speedway (Colorado) w a temp of 82* was 14.4@100.00mph.

Granted my 60ft was 2.4 (street tires) but should I be doing better w my mods? I currently am untuned so I DO run rich, but my buddy is saying that his friend runs a 14 flat w just a catback.

I weigh in at 3750 with me in the car (Im 145)

It's hard to say because in CO you could have some realy HIGH DA. But if you say that a similer car with only a cat-back is running faster, then something could be wrong.

Are you a A4 or M6? If it's an M6 A LOT of that could be driving.

hmm. that sounds slow for an LS1. if you''re driving an M6, it could be your driving style. if you're untuned, then i wouldn't open up the cutout on the strip, because you'll be running rich as hell and robbing u of mid-range TQ. however, the 4.11s would make up for that, so it's hard to say. how many miles are on your car?

edit: it could also be high altitude.

I think that is the problem in a nutshell. Yes when I was stock I ran 12.85 @ 111 but its not that common, it happend at nearly sea level, and it took a good deal of driving on my part.

I would atribute the low ET's to the heat and high altitude.

Im M6 here. A friend that went up with me last week ran a 14.5 best (M6) with shorties and LS6 cam. Hes a coupe and Im a vert.

Also I am spinning through the first 2 gears and part of 3rd (no DRs at all)

As far as driving style goes...I dont see how it could get much better other than the launch. I dont power shift but I can shift pretty damned fast.

BTW car has 86k miles on it.

From my experience, event when running 10s powershifting over just shifting fast can still get me a tenth or sometimes more and 1 to 1.5 MPH. And that is running 10s, when running 14s or 13s it might even be a bigger gain.

Launching IS the whole race. If you mess up the launch, you might as well not continue. You said you are pulling 2.4 60s If you could cut it down to a 1.9 60foot then you have just droped more then 1 full second in your quarter mile time. Thats BIG!

Plus spinning through the first 2 gears, could be costing you MAJOR time as well!

As I see it there is A LOT for you to work on, and judging by that, your car is running right where it should be. If you hook, dont spin, and shift well, the car will be a low low 13 or high 12 which is where it should be in the heat and high altitude.

Plus the weight is not helping you wither.
