Aftermarket Wiring Harness any good???
i havent found much on the Painless Wiring harness.
The car is pretty much turning into a race car and i want to get rid of all the useless wires (ie. egr, air, speakers, hvac, etc)
i just need the basics (ie, turn signals, brake lights, headlights, etc)
would it be easier to pull the wires from the PCM or buy a Painless Wiring Harness??
anyone with experience?

Here's something to look forward to. That's less than half the mess. I think I already had a trash can full of wires and insulation at this point.

That's factory, if I remember right, I was about halfway through it when I took that pic. The connector under the steering collum (not in pic) is a complete nighmare if you don't have schematics. Main harness under the hood is a pain to.

hmmm...maybe i'll just leave all the wires as they are...
i still might pull some of the redundant ones from the PCM, ie. EGR, AIR, radio speakers,

Go after them and get what you can. The radio and speaker harness is real easy. Airbag and emissions set up is easy too. After that it get's alittle tricky. Also, when you have the dash out cut that black pad off the fire wall, it's pretty heavy.
Even though my car has no power options it was wired for many power options. While it was a pain, it was worth it.

I ended up sending my stock harness to speartech to have it reworked. Im gonna just rewire the whole car with what I need. It just seemed like it would be way easier to start from scratch. I should get mine back in a week or two. I will post back with pics when i get it.

Pull the wires from the factory harness.
Have someone do it that has alot of experience with it.
Im fixing a car that someone tried to do it them self...Not fun at all...Its costing them way more then its worth to lose 5lbs.
You can pay me to fix it if you get it wrong..Im cheap.

It's a huge pain. I took out 25 pounds of wire between under the dash and under the hood. I kept the power windows, all the light functions and the horn. After looking at it, im going to redo it all in new wire. I'm a perfectionist though when it comes to the look of wiring. It's all hid behind the dash though. oh well...lol.
my thoughts on painless:
They make good products other then there switch panels. the plastic rockers are kinda cheap and pop out of the box. Im building a dragster for a guy right now and it has the slim dragster switch panel and its doing the same thing. The rest of there stuff I've never had a problem with though.
