New cam installed car does not seem much faster.... Input?
okay guys I just installed a new cam and had the car tuned... it runs well and sounds aggresive but does not seem to go much faster at the track... Any input would be awesome... here is a run down of the car...
stock head 5.7
lunati 237/242 .595/.595 114
Headers
2otl
ls6 intake
Underdrive pulley
ported tb
a4
4000 vig
3.23 gears
all runs on Mickey drag radials
Runs after cam on a unprepped track (hangover fest)
12.44 @ 109
Before cam
12.66 @ 107 On a well prepped track
The mph sucks and does not seem right for a car with a cam such as this.
Both 60's are high 1.7's... I am just bummed as I expected a better mph but I guess I will give it one more shot when opening day comes on a prepped track...
But 2 mph and 2 tenths seems pretty bad in this application any input It just seems like the car is not making any power.

How was the weather on the runs with the cam compared to before runs without the cam? To get a true idea what you picked up you need to compare the corrected time before and after with the DA corrected to 0'. Whay were the 60's before and after? Also how much power did you pick up with the cam on the dyno? That size cam may have changed the low-end quite a bit and a lower gear or larger converter might be needed to get it off the line.

something is wrong w/ the tune, if you gained 2.5 mph in the 1/8, you shoulda been at least at a 110mph. you should be in the 11s for sure. whats the elevation??? that could be another problem too.
and btw stock heads "853s" will go 11s theres only about a 5-7rwhp differance between the 853s and the 241s

Meerly shifting the rpm band up without allowing the motor to see those rpms will limit the results. My 4 speed 283 car takes forever to bring up the rpms with street gears. Adding duration to increase rpm and kill off even more low end torque yeilds only a slight improvement in et and almost no improvement in MPH. Gear deep, leave High, Night and day. My case will be far more magnified than would yours. Those M/Ts are sticky. A good converter would be very beneficial to keep the car at least above the bottom of the power curve. I am gussing your car really comes on the power at around 3000rpm? A good set of 3.70s or 4.11s might be nice too.
