Default Realistic race weight

I am buying a stripped down a 99z roller and am curious what is a realistic raceweight goal is. Is 3000lbs raceweight out of the question. I'm pretty much just looking for some opinions on how lite you can get one of these cars. Thanks in advanced. Mike

About 170 ish

I don't know if I want to go to the lexan level, but pretty much anything else I would consider. The car won't be street driven so that'll help. Only reason I'm asking is because I'm trying to formulate a plan in my head and would like some thoughts. Thanks, Mike

There are a lot of things that can add weight, most importantly, your settup and safety level...

If going all motor or even N20 then yeah you can get that low...

Boosted combos probably won't unless you hack the hell out of the car...

Going faster then 9.99 adds about 100+ # or so in safety stuff over the almost 60+ # just for going faster then 11.50...

What are your plans/goals?

I'd like to be in the mid to high 9's. I am going to take a couple of years and build it from the bottom up, so I'm kind of just formulating ideas in my head.

3k is doable it will just be kinda of expensive, stick to tubular k member, drag brakes, only wiring for essential things this means redoing your wiring, high quality light wheels ( bogarts ) real front runners, manual brakes, 12 bolt, power glide ect..

My stock eliminator Camaro weighed right around 3000 lbs with me in it without ballast. it still had the factory door panels, seats, K-member, and SS hood. So, 3000 lbs should be easier with an LS1, but as mentioned above, expect to spend a stack of cash.

Good Luck,

Daren
