Front runners...
Hey fellas. About to put the prostars on my SS and have some MT etradials for the back. I still dont have front runners. Which ones are you guys using/work best. I do cruise the car on the street as well as race it at the track. I heard Kumhos make some good ones but again I have no idea where to find them? Any help would be awesome.

I have Sportsmans now but they are not radials, I been running QTPs (bias). I want to run a 28" D/R this year if I can find a suitable radial front. Alot of guys run bias fronts with radials out back with no problems, but I'd rather have radials all the way around if I can.

That's the best combo for now. I run those with MT radials in the back and it's very stable at +140mph at the track.
No radial front runner exists now. I looked the the VW Kuhmos, etc and they are very low rated tires....like 900lbs each for load....unless your car weighs 3000lbs, you're taking a chance.

I have been running the M/T sportsman front tires for a while, not the 8 ply ones, the 4 ply ones and have had zero problems.
Now that the car is getting more track orientated, the front runners are gonna coem off and a set of et fronts, or moroso ds-2's will be going on my drag wheels, those wheels are not gonna see the street again.

I ran the Kumho Power Star 165/80/15s on my car for two seasons without a problem. Plenty of track & street racing every week. Raceweight was 3300lbs. If you don't plan on trapping over 130, I would go with them if you're on a budget. If not, go with MT Sportsmans up front if you're on a drag radial out back, or a DS-2 or ET Front if you run a bias-ply tire out back.

currently running 8 ply sportsmans up front but will be switching to ET fronts very soon.
8ply work great on and off street. Would recommend them if you're running a DR in the back, definitely.

I use the MT S/R radial 26.00x6.00-15. It's a 4 ply Polyester/fiberglass radial. It's rated at 990lbs @ 35psi. They weigh in only slightly heavier than the 26X7.50-15 8-ply sportsmen's (19lbs vs 20lbs). I didn't weigh them myself. Those are printed specs on them.
My car weighs in at 3850lbs street trim and 3730-50lbs race. The tires don't bulge, are stable at speed, and I haven't had any issues with them.

Tire Overall Diameter: 26.0''
Tire Tread Width: 5.7''
Tire Section Width: 6.5''
Wheel Diameter: 15''
Spec Wheel Width: 4''-5''
Tire Weight: 19.7 lbs

Don't know if you travel or race in a series?? but some require the front and backs match, so we always run the same company, just in case.

I have 4 plys for the street and 8 plys for the track. For some reason with the 4plys upfront and slicks on the back the car was very loose at higher speeds like 70+ but on Dr's 4ply is ok. 8ply and slicks in the back and the car is solid on the big end. For a 3k lb+ car to be safe go with the 8 ply. -Mark
