12.41@112 Stock Engine/Trans/Cnvrtr/Maniflods/Cats
I have a 97 firebird, had the V6 in it, swapped in an LS1..
I purchased a junk yard 99 LS1 motor/trans combo from TaCreations.. Here is what I did to it:
Added:
160 Thermostat
Poly Motor Mounts
K&N FIPK
Removed:
Air Pump, EGR, Evap, A/C
The car has:
nittos/skinnies, alum drive shaft, 4.10 gears and weight reduciton.
First pass in the car was a 12.5... then I ran a handful of 12.4's.. best one:
1.848 60'
8.024@88.08 1/8
12.417@112.51 1/4
I'm going for the stock internal NA record. All I need is 1.2 seconds from these mods:
TB, Pulley, LS6 Intake, QTP LT's, YPT4400, Slicks
I think that's very do-able.. I also have about 50 more lbs of weight reduction I can do.
A little more suspension info:
Front: Stock V6 shocks/springs, no swap bar.
Rear: Stock V6 Springs, WS6 Take-off Shocks, BMR LCA's.
I also have the stock V6 drums in the back! Because of this I was only able to brake torque the car to maybe 1000 RPM's or so.. any more and the drums couldn't hold and I'd spin at the line. Next time I'm going to have to use the E-brake as well to try and hold the power. COol thing about drums is, on grinding.

Thanks man. We need to get together some time and talk weight reduction.
Only thing I have left really is air bags, door bars, radio head unit, door panels, and the stock k-member/a-arms.
I really want that stock internals NA record.

Sounds good!
As far as the drums go, they usually have more holding power than disk brakes, but don't stop as well. They're usually the choice for footbrake racers (take a look at most late model SE cars, and you'll find drums on the rear).
And like you said, you don't have any difficulty fitting 15" wheels.
Anyway, congrats!

Hey Geroge, I removed my EVAP but still have to work out a few bugs. WHen I fill up at the gas station sometimes gas just pores out from the top of the tank, not sure whre just yet.
What I'm going to do is just plug up everything on the tank and drill a hole in the cap and be done with it.

You'll probably need really good air to get the record, but it is doable.
Let me know if you need anything.

Those times are about right for the mods and weight. Exactly what V6Bird was running with the same mods - he gutted his cats and was heavier. My car ran 12.7's at 3550 or so.
I'm going for the record this fall as well. RUQUIKR has held it long enough!
