Default Results from Tom's Dyno Vancouver WA, with 4L80E. Low hp & high torque

I ran my car on a chassis dyno for the first time last week.

Here are the results. Above about 5000 rpm the a/f ratio went really rich, (as low as 10:1 and falling fast) and blew out some black smoke at the end of the pull.

My question: what is a realistic (conservative) the driveline loss % for:
4L80E in drive with the converter locked (Transgo FMVB)
Modified stock converter (3000 stall speed in this car)
9" with 3.50 gears and a spool
Hurst cheater slicks (8.25 wide, about 28" tall)

The results are attached.

Pretty low hp numbers, but nice torque number if it is real.

On the street the car blows the tires off pretty easy at 30 mph.

One other note:

Before I took my car to the dyno, a couple people told me that Tom was "an arrogant a#@hole". That is NOT true, he was very professional, gave me his honest opinion on my car, he told me that lots of people have unrealistic expectations, and that when they don't see numbers they wanted, they get pissed off.

I only expected 300 hp to the wheels, so 510 was great, and I didn't blow it up...

Short version: Tom is a nice guy, and he had a very good price for 3 runs.

496 chevy, 40+ year old roots blower, 2 carter 750 carbs, .620 solid roller, 4L80E.

The carbs don't work correctly, the A/F ratio starts out at 13:1 at idle, gets leaner from 2500 - 4000, then abruptly gets very fat at 5000.

Pretty weak numbers for an engine that big, but the blower is really worn out inside, it only makes 10 psi @ 5000 rpm. I was just wondering how much that transmission eats up. I assume it takes between 20-40 hp to run it, and a few more to turn the rear axle, but that still makes a pretty weak hp number.

588 torque, 505 hp

3 pulls for $75, it would have been $60, but we stopped in the middle to change blower the blower pulleys.

This is the funniest thing I have read in awhile. Tom has always gone out of his way to help people and is far from an arrogant a-hole. Glad to hear you had a positive experience with him.

On a side note, numbers on his (Mustang) dyno have always been on par with two dynojets up here in Washington.

You're confusing Tom Wong (Wong's Performance w/ Mustang Dyno) with another shop in town here Called Tom's Performance Machine who has a Dynojet. This guy went to the latter shop.
