Either a ls1 or lq9 block, I have not decided yet. It's going to be through a stalled auto.

6.0 LQ9, bored and hones .020"
ARP rod bolts, head studs,
stock head gasket, new OEM pistons
Mamo ported FAST 102 intake, FAST 102 TB
42lb FAST injectors, FAST fuel rail, upgraded fuel pump and return style fuel system
100mm MAF, Advanced induction 232cc port n polished heads w/ tit retainers, 229/234 .600/.600 114+2 LSA,
1 piece aluminum driveshaft, 25% UDP
Kooks 1 7/8" longtubes, 3" x pipe and 3" catback exhaust with high flow cats, hardened pushrods, stock rockers with trunion upgrade,
lightweight flywheel

This is what I made.....

This on a brand new engine once it settles should make a little more. Bigger cam may be possible to hit 500whp but I love the low end torque on it as is! I'd go woth an LQ9 6.0L block.

Ls1 id suggest FI of some kind bc if not then you'll spend the cost of going FI and you'll kick yourself in the end. Lq4/9 is definitely the cheaper way to go but youu gain 100lbs on the front end

Well, you will have a hell of a lot of trouble making those numbers with an auto ls1. And you wouldn't have a "mild" cam in it. So looks like you should go ahead and pick up that LQ4 and give it a try. Do you have a budget of at least $4000? Because you are going to need it. Heads, valvetrain, cam, etc etc, it adds up quick.

Here is a good recipe for 440-450whp thru a auto.

TEA Stage 2 243's milled 61cc. Stock gasket should get around 11:1
228/232 112 cam
keep the valvetrain light as possible! Titanium retainers, Conical springs, LS3 valves, Stock modified rocker or Yella Terra Ultra lights.
Fast 92/92 ported by Mamo
1 7/8 kooks with a true dual exhaust(kooks/ tsp)
get a efficient converter...Circle d or FTI are both good
electric water pump

I agree with this. This is pretty much my buddies EXACT build, except he was 6 speed. But he made 461rwhp with it. I would think 440whp through an auto would be possible.

No he didn't he thought that it might be a problem because I have a custom made dual 3" intake going into the MAF. One intake goes out to the front bumper driver side and the other the passenger side so it can suck cold air from both sides. They merge together into a bend then there is the MAF. He though beecause of the bend being there it would cause a little problems with the MAF but he was able to tune it no problem.

He did say those card style MAFs are very sensitive though.

Is it just me or does that combo look like it peaked really early and the power fell off early too? Heavy valvetrain? Cheap springs? I would think you could carry it out to 7,000rpm.

I don't think Advanced induction puts cheap valve springs in their heads. Curve looks fine to me typical of others with this setup. The cam is pretty mild. I'm planning on upgrading the cam to a 232/236 .610/.590 112 LSA this winter and redyno. I think there is power left on the table to be had.

6.0 cubic inch engine
Super Victor Intake
4150 TB (open TB with no elbow)
TFS 225cc heads or AFR 230cc heads
2" headers
3" true duals dumped
custom grind cam
fuel system setup for e85
a very good tune

I think that would get you there.

With a budget of 6k, it will be nearly impossible with a 3.900" bore auto as stated above. Go ahead and plan on 4.000" bore with 11.5 compression and a nice set of heads.

You'll be at 6k fairly quick. Is that the entire build or just the engine? With that kind of power you will need another 6k for drive train to handle the power.

You'll certainly gain peak HP, but you may lose peak torque.....and you'll almost definitely lose HP and TQ from 2000 to 5000 RPMs.

So.....just be prepared for that scenario.

Yeah, 6k I would think wouldn't get you much. I did a 403 stroker with the 6.0 block and that cost me 15k all that got me was the engine and built th350 trans. That setup made 590hp 530tq at the flywheel.
