Default Borla vs Bassani Tru-Dual

now here's something that people have been waiting for. a test comparing two after market catbacks. on the wife's 99 formula, i took the borla w/small open plate off and installed the bassani tru-dual exhaust. both dynos were untuned as well. a straight comparison between the two and how the motor reacts to them.

first graph actual. second graph SAE.

Very impressive considering the Borla is pretty free flowing. Does your wife's car run an aftermarket cam or is it still the stock cam?

still on the stock cam. we've done everything except for cam. vinci does the cam last in their stage packages. and that's how i'm doing her car. exactly how they set up their stage packages.

Why hasn't Bassani let other people sell this system??

I'd be more interested and more willing to throw down some money if more people sold it, and more people with results.

any bassani dealer can sell the system. vinci and i did the test work. i am just promoting the results. there has already been one person, who bought it from another dealer in california, has posted about it. he removed his mufflex 4" system. he only has opinions about it in his post. no actual dyno or track times yet.

as far as more people with results, i know of 7 other sets sold and installed at vinci here in orlando. don't know if they'll ever post. not everyone surfs message boards.

Why did you test the borla with the small open plate? it would have made more power with the larger open plate or no plate at all, although it would have been louder it would have easily gained 5-7hp over the small open plate. Was the dyno testing done on the same day? just curious.

testing was not done on same day. sound level for the small plate. even with the small plate, it couldn't get as quiet inside the car as the bassani did. (i have to appease the wife as it is her car). the bassani makes more power than the borla with it being quieter as well. and even full open, it still wouldn't have beaten the bassani.

the dyno test temps were only 2* apart. and i also showed everyone the ACTUAL along with the SAE numbers. in other threads, i have posted these track results comparing stock exhaust vs open 3" cutout vs bassani tru-dual on my 00 formula.

Now here's results of my exhaust endeavors. This is with 200 n2o.
distance ---stock ----- cutout --- Bassani
60ft ------ 1.987 ------- 2.074 ---- 1.969
1/8 ------- 7.902 ------ 7.912 ----- 7.739
mph ------ 93.20 ------ 93.97 ----- 98.60
1/4 ------ 12.102 ---- 12.080 ----- 11.814
mph ------ 117.12 ---- 118.06 ---- 121.35

see that wonderful graph in the first post? i know it doesn't say borla in blue. but, the blue line is the borla and the red lines are the bassani. the borla was the first thing we put on her car. has been on there for every test until the bassani. click the pink banner to see the progress from beginning to current.

that price is better but still too rich for my blood. i figure that the longer its out the cheaper its gonna get.
with shipping and install its still gonna be about 1k. for three hundred more i can have a cam kit, install and dyno tune dune and make lots more power.
now if somebody asked me if they should get a borla, corsa ,gmmg or the bassani, ill tell them the bassani.

well, don't wait too long on buying any exhaust system out there. steel prices went up at the beginning of the year. look around, you'll noticed exhaust systems prices have started increasing at the vendor level already. i agree, you can make more power going the cam route. thanks for the recommendation. when it comes time, you'll know which one to get now.

Can you post pics for the Bassani. I have always wanted an X-pipe with True duals.

Looks real nice. I wonder if i can fit that X-pipe on my FLP headers and dump the shitty FLP Y-pipe.

anything can be done. vinci has fit the system to a set of MAC headers using the MAC y-pipe. i hooked it to the bassani headers. the system is made to directly fit 00-02 cats.
