Default What is the difference in locked and unlocked torque converters?

I recently dynoed my Z28 with the converter unlocked and was told that I should expect a 5-8% increase in power with it locked. They couldnt lock it @ the Dyno I went to though. Is this true, if so what differences did you all have?
