Stroked LS2 vs Stroked LS3 vs Stroked LS7?

Default Stroked LS2 vs Stroked LS3 vs Stroked LS7?

Over the next year or so I am looking to swap engines on my '00 vert SS. I am thinking about a stroked LS3 418 or 427. Was wondering if anyone has experience with the above set-ups. I've heard some 402s putting down more than the 418s and that cam selection and ring sealing were issues with the stroked/bored LS3/L92. Aside from a bump in price on the stroked LS7 .... any comments? Looking to spend about 10K for long block with intake. Texas Speed and Scoggin look like they have a good selection on stroked long blocks. (would really like to do a stroked LS7 440 but it might be out of my budget!)
Would like to see about 450-550 HP streetable daily driver.

Why not throw a big cam with matching heads and a fast 92/92 and be at 450? Be a alot cheaper. You could throw a 100 shot on after that.

I've thought about that and by the time you add up all the parts and labor (not something I can do on my own) and the difference in streetability, I thought the bigger cubes might be the way to go. Anyone in a similar situation?

A 408 with some good heads will put you were you want to be for less money.
I can put together a long block for your budget that would hit your power mark and be a dependable daily driver. Cam and head selection will make the difference.
A 418 LQ9 would be about the same price, little bit more as the 4.1 crank has gone up in price but would be a good way to go as well. As long as your not going with a power ad. Our lq9 418 with a decent set of heads on top would have plenty of tq and would make a great n/a street setup.

Unless your dead set on staying in aluminum, then your adding a few bucks for a conversion kit and the block is more to begin with as well so the budget then becomes a slight issue. If you dont mind the 75 extra #'s you can save on the block and put the money into the heads (where the power is made).

Thanks Blanco. Your point is very well made especially regarding the heads. I am only going to do this once so I want to make sure I do it right. From what I've been reading the stock L92/LS3 heads flow very well but need the proper cam/cubes to benefit. I would like to stay aluminum as my ride is a tad bloated to begin with (convertible, fat driver, etc.).

I just had my 402 built and you can see the dyno here under va speed 402. it still needs more feul up top but already made 516 to the wheels and I drive it every day.
