How's the 2011 Mustang GT holding up?
Hey guys, so I sold my car awhile ago and have since been out of the pony cars, but have noticed Ford's push for performance with the new 5.0. What I'm curious about is; how has the 11 GT been performing, and how does it run against the LS1's of yesterday? I mean on paper the 412hp/390tq beats the LS1's 350hp/350 something tq (can't remember exactly). I know other factors should be considered, but how are most doing stock vs stock and/or bolt-on vs bolt-on.
What interested me was reading a MM&FF mag. saying the new stang puts down 400rwhp/370rwtq with just a CAI, tune, and exhaust, which I've thought to be quite impressive. For instance, how do the LS1's fair with those sorts of bolt ons and such?
Thanks the time.

Well as one guy said it without being a jerk, it may be ignorance. But, nevertheless I thought this is the best place because I'm wondering what all your experiences have been on the street when meeting up with these GTs. If you guys want to be asses and basically say "ohhh your in the wrong section you little *****", at least be helpful enough to enlighten me on where to post it. Now for anyone who would like to answer my question on what experiences they have had out on the street against these GT's in their LS1, please enlighten me on that. As for the biased information part, only fools give biased information contradicting what they know to be true, and LS1tech seems to lack large amounts of those people like some mustang forums may have.
Thanks
P.S. - I have no intrigue in arguing, so unless I'm completely wrong with what I just said or if you want to answer my original question, let me know. Otherwise don't waste your time posting and my time reading it.

If you can afford a new 5.0 then sure, its an amazing car. But its just flat out hard to beat the bang for the buck you can get from a LS1 car now. Still, we are talking apples to oranges.

Here is my 2011 GT and the huge mod list:
Roush 2.3 TVS blower
mail order tune
K&N filter (blower uses the stock airbox)
Rear springs
18" drag radials on stock wheels
Ford GT500 mufflers
only weight reduction is spare and jack.
I love LS engines and they are the best performance value out there for sure. Unless you are like me and have owned five LS1 4th gens plus two C6 and two c5 corvettes as well and are just are looking for something new. The new Mustang is really well built, great handling car and the 5.0 makes some serious power - although its a bit complicated. In 5 years 2011 GTs will be 15 grand, then something else will come out that will be too expensive but better

My best friend just picked one up a few weeks ago. I am unimpressed by the car in the fullest. It feels too big and bulky to be a pony car (Not saying the new Camaro SS is any better...). Stock for stock an LS1 can in fact hang with the new 5.0, would it beat it? It wouldn't be easy, but it's not a long shot either if it did. You'd just think with the weight it's at and the price tag it's at it'd have less plastic inside of it than a 4th gen. The seats are terrible too, no lateral support. The bolsters in my moms 2004 Nissan Altima 4-cyl are deeper than that of this car.
Oh, my friends transmission is also grinding and it's not uncommon for the transmissions in these cars to go bad with VERY low miles on them. I know Ford will cover it, but it's a brand new car and a huuuuge headache to have to deal with.
My vote- Let Ford have another crack at trying to get their **** right, maybe wait a year or so.

I test drove one, and interior comments aside, it felt much the same as a bolt LS1 car (Even with the added weight of the Stang). IMO, kudos to Ford for building a great engine - to keep it affordable they may have cheaped out in other areas - this shouldn't be news to anyone with a pony car - from interiors to rear ends, there is a lot of room for improvement (but at what cost??).
