Default Turbo VW Bug Build

Well, I have been working on this since late august and it is just about done! The goal for the project was a mild boost to my little 5.3, which I feel I have achieved (Can't wait till I buy some bigger injectors) I tried to complete this project with as little money as possible and still have a decent reliable setup, I ended up spending the most money on the turbo and hot side piping.

So, Heres what I got into it:

Stock 5.3, controlled by Megasquirt and MSD 6010 for timing
Single Master Power T70, .68 A/R exhaust (Thanks to KBracing)
.5" laser cut steel exhaust flanges
sch40 1.5" weld in elbows comprise the driver side manifold feeding into a 2-1 2.5" stainless merge pipe
1 5/8" primaries made of 16gauge 304 stainless
2.5" 304 stainless crossover pipe with flex joint and stainless v-band clamps
Ebay intercooler, BOV, and wastegate
3.5" downpipe into a summit glasspack

Car before turbo:

Old side pipes:

Turbo mocked up on driver side, Passenger side has megasquirt relay box and all wiring runs through the firewall on that side, driver side just seemed a little easier

The turbo hot piping all finished up (sorry no in progress pics, I always forget)

down pipe:

Lifting engine to remove oil pan

oil pan with -12 drain line fitting

Air intake elbow

Turbo heat shield

more on next post........

The car is running pretty good right now, still trying to figure out the timing(hard fixed it to no more than 18 deg advance right now). The stock injectors seem to be working ok, hitting about 90% duty cycle and the car is making just about 5psi of boost. I have yet to really pound on it, I fear the injectors wont keep up and it will go lean and frag itself. I am planning on a new set of injectors this winter.

Heres a short vid of the car right now, sounds pretty good if I do say so myself
