I ve been waiting to get one....national back order a few weeks ago.
End all be all? Even with the extra stuff....its the same price as a used aftermarket cam.....and probably capable of close to 1000 hp....so if your only building say 1000 chp its great, but to go over that.....sure you ll invest in a belt drive, 3 or 4 cams, a 6 bolt block, some 4500+ $ 6 bolt heads etc......
Ill stick with my used unbored 6.0 iron block, 317 heads, a 97$ cam and only 800rwhp.

Is this cam good for small cubes with light boost or big cubes and heavy boost? Light car/heavy car/auto tranny/manny tranny. If you believe what your read, it's good for all and all points in between. 4.8L with stock heads....go for the ZR1 cam. 7.0L with killer heads....ZR1 cam there too. Last weekend, an acquaintance said that it was also a good n/a cam. I asked him what engine he was referring to. He replied that any LS engine would make good power with the ZR1 cam. Ahhhh shoooot. I wonder if this cam is going to put all of the aftermarket cam grinders out of business.
Just about any cam can allow power to be made if you blow hard enough on the intake side. Assuming the ZR1 cam is magic for all things LS is a bit of a stretch.

This cam is almost the same cam that lingenfelter sold. the one I bought for 400 bucks now they sell this one for 97 so they don't offerf the gt7 no more.. lingenfelter recomended the gt7 for all boosted motors from a truck supercharger to there 383 427 twin turbo vettes over 1000hp.. they know they're stuff .. I researched for my long travel sand rail engine build going twin turbos 317 heads gt7 cam.. this seemed like the best cam for me because I wanted reliability good mpg lol and fast spool. I had a magazine where it had a completly polished and crome ls1 twin turbo build no expense spared 383 and what cam lingenfelter gt7 therye were expecting 1000 hp plus..

But what ever, thats what I remember, lsa is single bolt, I think the zo6 is single bolt (its almost identical to the ls9) and the ls9 is a three bolt....
phewwwww.....
haha, I checked you did.......but thanks for the link and double checking yourself to see.

Did you ever get the cam? I'm thininking about ordering one for my 08 Vette as I'm planning on installing the Edlebrock supercharger and while i'm pinning the crank it would not take much more to slide in the cam.
Wondering if they are off back order.

i have a LS9 in my little bro's car.
It is a 3 bolt.
you do need the cover and the timing gear
12605577 ls9 cam (97$) you need this
12576407 ls2 sprocket (27$) you need this
1258482 ls2 tming chain (nothing comes up on gmpd) you need this
12588670 ls2 damper (12$) most LS1 cars i have been in dont have these holes
12600325 ls2 front cover (130$) you need this, but most places have it for cheaper
12585545 ls2 cam sensor (44.60$) comes on the LS2 front cover
now i used a complete new aftermarket timing set. i spent around 100 on it and just bought it for a ls2

is the ls9 springs cheaper?.. how much lift can they handle..i didnt see this anywhere in the thread.. i would asume there better for boosting anyways,,and might be cheaper..

I just ordered an LS9 cam for my LS2. Procharger on the way and I have to swap my MS4 cam out. This is a $95 alternative to putting the stock cam back in, and should be better than the stock LS2 cam for boost. According to lingenfelter I shouldn't need anything special if it's going in an LS2. They're 3 bolt, I know my car is 3 bolt, and it uses the same timing cover, etc... we'll see if that's true when it shows up and I get things torn down.

as far as what i have seen with 4.8s and 5.3s its a decent cam for a 4.8 but really holds you back on power with a 5.3.
i went from a ls9 cam to a bullshit blower cam specified for a g8 and picked up nearly 120rwhp. in my fairmont
its great if you want no lope, good mileage, good vac numbers etc.
but if you want to easily make over 600whp you are going to have to push hard like 20+lbs as i did.
put it this way, on 20lbs i made 599rwhp with the ls9 in a 5.3, with a 80mm turbo
with nothing other than the cam swap i made 611rwhp on 12psi... then 654 on 14psi

I was pretty happy with this cam for the price. I picked up the front pick-up timng cover from auto zone for around $60. And used cheap autozone replacement timing gear/chain. I figure I wasn’t going to rev this motor over 6k so I didn’t need fancy aftermarket timing components. I had roughly $200 in the cam swap total.
Going by weight and trap speed I’m right at 700whp with the zr1 cam, JY dished piston 5.3, Stock 317 heads (8.6:1 CR) , pac1218 springs. 20psi through a s400sx3 (75mm t4 with 83mm turbine). This is on e85 with 18* timing. And that’s shifting at 6k and going through the traps at 5400rpm.
According to the carcraft article recently published on a stock 5.3 this cam picked up 112hp/90ftlb over the stock cam at 6500rpm. It really shined in the upper rpms. I’m a little nervous about taking my engine to 6500 with 20lbs on an all oem rotating assy. (including hardware)
ls9 cam 211/230 .558/.562 122.5lsa
420hp/6200
393tq/5100
-41tq 2500
-20tq 3500-2tq 4500
+51tq/53hp 5500
+90tq/112hp 6500
