external wastegate leaking by at an idle!?! almost finished with my turbo project kit.. my wastegate is vented in to atmosphere.. started up today to listen for any exhaust leaks and had some exhaust coming out of the dump of the wastegate at an idle with obviously no boost. is that normal or is my wastegate no good??

Have you checked to make sure you have the valve seat installed? Some people forget or lose this piece when they install the gate, it will allow exhaust to pass around the valve and cause the leak you are experiencing.
What brand/size gate is it?

its a tial 38mm and nope i never installed that.. haha my stupid novice mistake! i went to put it in and the wastegate wouldn't sit flush on my downpipe so i figured it was for a different application. thanks!!
