Default Stuck trapping 154-155mph...

Well I went back to the track to make some more blasts and see if the new inner valve springs would fix my problem. No such luck. The car just feels stuck at 6600RPMs in 3rd. It slowly ramps up to 6850RPMs by the end of the track, but thats it. I am really beginning to regret the 3.00 gear swap I did, but at the time I couldn't find any other option. Anyone know of a 3.25 gear for a Moser 9"... Please point me in the direction!

So yeah the car doesn't seem to want to go any faster than 9.0-9.1 at 153-155MPH. Next time out I am thinking about turning the boost up to 22-23psi and seeing how it does. Maybe the car just doesn't have the power to push through the 3.00 gear on the big end!? Or maybe the converter is suddenly too tight!?

I dunno I am running out of ideas. Any other thoughts or suggestions are welcomed...

Still in the hunt for the 8 second pass...

what springs? The valvetrain needed for ETPs are very heavy and require alot of spring to control...

I don't even know what they would be considered now. I have FTI outer springs with a new upgraded set of stiffer inners. I am pretty sure they are up to the task. Because the seat psi on the new springs is 35psi higher and the car did the EXACT same thing as it did last time out. I'm not convinced it's the valvetrain any more. I'm beginning to think the gear swap was too dramatic and is causing me to believe there is another problem! The car is nearly a 1/10 slower in the 1/8mile since the gear swap. You think maybe the cam needs to be more aggressive!?

I just swapped out my 3.42's to 3.0 gears, and picked up 4 mph with the same boost. 28" tires.

325/50/15... MT ET DR tire so 28" with the 3.00 Gear.

The seat psi on the old springs was 135 and the new ones were 170 I believe, maybe only 165... I can't remember now. I honestly am not sure on the open psi.

Based on my experience...nowhere near enough, I started with 165ish and had problems ~7K. Jumped to 200lb seat, better, but still had violent float.

Case in point...this is what my valve seals looked like after 6 runs

What would the car feel like if I was getting valve float!? And would it do it in all 3 gears or maybe just the top of 3rd. It feels like it is doing it in 2nd gear, but not until 7k RPMs. Any real way to test and see if it is the valve springs? And if that is the case what psi springs should I be looking for and where can I get them from!?

it'll fall flat...alot like you're describing...

Dunno on what springs will fix what ails if (if its valvefloat). I just gave up and went to solid roller so I could put some REAL springs in it

The car still accelerates... Just not fast at all. I feel like the car should be running harder out the back end. I guess if I crank the boost up some more and the car doesn't go any faster than we know we have a problem.

Yup, I wanted to do a fair comparison between the rearend change. Switched from 3.42 geared 7.5 stock 10 bolt, to the midwest 3.0 9". Same boost level 8 psi. Dropped a tenth off the 60 ft. and clipped a .75 off the e.t. with 4 mph trap increase.

Like I said, first pass off the trailer was to be the comparison run. to see what changes the gearing made. Foot braked just like before.
The rest of the runs were with the t-brake and upped the boost every pass.
Enough of this, we don't need to clutter up the mans thread.

Yes please don't clutter my thread up.

FireBall...

I guess I may be going solid roller sooner than I thought. This has been in the back of my head for 6 months or so now. Maybe it is time I move forward.
