Exhaust Shop Hot-Side
So Im curious what you guys think. Just how much of a difference would it make performance wise having my exhaust guy bend up my pipes from my manifold to turbo flange? It would just be your typical front single set-up with truck manifolds...so there wouldn't be lots of harsh bends, but they would not be mandrel...
Im certain that everyone will say "fab up your own", but my question is, does anyone know for a fact that it will cause significant loss of performance? And if thats the case, couldnt a person just have 3" bent instead of 2.5" and you still have plenty of flow? I dont have any problem doing my own pipe, but it would help with down time if I could just have my guy bend a couple pipes real quick...
Thoughts?

Well thats true. I mean, I may still just buy mandrel bends and do my own cutting and tacking, and then just have it welded up. But I liked the idea of just putting it in the shop and having some pipes bent up right where they need to be. I dont see the non mandrel pipe causing much loss...especially on a 500hp car....maybe if you are shooting for 1000hp +

its pretty inexpensive to do it, i mean, other than the fab time, the material cost really isnt that expensive.
other than that, im not sure how into your exhaust hsop will be to make the merge collector, properly place the flange and lift heavy turbos all the time to fit up in there, plus youll need to tow it there, they cant just build you something off the top of their head or eyeball.

like the others said its really not the expensive to do it right, just cut and index the pipes and then carry them someplace to get them welded if you dont have a welder.
I will say i have a friend that tunes imports and i've seen kits where people just cut straight pipe and welded it at angles make over 500whp, so the exhaust shop bending prolly would be alright.
I think you should do it just for an experiment.
IMO the crushed part of the pipe is on the inside of the bend where velocity is slowest anyways, The important area of the pipe is on the outside, kinda like if your porting a head the top is a lot more important than the bottom.
