Default 221/221 .561/.561 114+4 turbo cam?

Is this a good turbo cam? I know the duration and lift are in the ballpark what about the cam being advanced? I presently have this cam and need to decide if I should stick this in my new build.

383, Patriot LQ9 heads, TC76 turbo

You can degree it different according to what you want to do. I would go bigger personally, like a 228 or 232. Talk to Speed Inc or Ed Curtis or Virginia Speed.

Any other opinions? Good turbo cam? Switch to something else and which cam?

+1, you can use this cam and it will work good and make great power, personally I would want something larger on a 383. I went from a cam with specs like the one you mentioned to the EPP 232/240 .595/.608 115LSA on my 370. I couldn't be happier with the new cam, has the idle I wanted, midrange is great and top end is phenomenal. Only reason I would keep the cam you have is if I wanted a little more stealth.

I didn't realize people where going that big on turbo motors, that's more duration than I thought would be a good cam. That's exactly why I started this thread.

Yeah, and some people out there go with even bigger cams, I might have gone bigger but I just don't enjoy checking my valvetrain every other oil change. This build for me was going to see more street than track so I went more conservative on the cam than I originally intended. A search will show you some guys out there are running monster cams on their single and twin turbo builds. Im sure they have a badass valvetrain to support it and do routine check-ups, those builds definitely look more track orientated than street.

On my TTcamaro with the 370ci motor I had 240 duration on intake and exhaust. Worked extremely well!

I loved it. I had a 6 speed for a long time. The car sounded good and drove great. The actual specs on that cam I had was a 600lift intake/exhaust and 240 dur. intake/exhaust and it was on a 114lsa and I had DART heads as well to begin with.

The duration isn't what makes you have to check the springs. It's the lift. Hunter02SS's cam with .600 lift wouldn't kill springs. The one in my sig is pushing it as far as how big to go with forced induction on a street car.

Actually my new cam in my new motor is bigger than that and I drive it on the street quite often. 650lift intake/exhaust 252duration intake/exhaust on a 114lsa. My springs are 175lbs on the seat and 575lbs open pressure. The springs I have are at the maxing out point on hydralic lifters.

It's also in a little bitty 370. We shall see how it does with an F-1C.

To the OP. My cam was originally spec'd by Comp Cams for a twin turbo build. I changed my mind and now I'm going to try it with a Procharger.
