Default any 5.3's running a stock fbody cam?

Well I am putting together a stock 5.3 to run some boost on. Car is just a track car to have fun with but keep a tight budget. Has anyone ran a stock say 02 or other fbody cam with any results? I have three here in my garage.

Thanks

Waste of time. Just shell out some $$ and get a good cam. Atleast look for a C5ZO6 cam.

totally wrong.

i made over 780rwhp with a stock 98 cam , ls6 intake, and tb through a 12 bolt... also ran my one and only 9 second pass with the 6 speed using the stock cam (stock ls1 5.7L tho)

boost is waaaaay WAY more important than what cam you have in it.

if you can get your hands on a z06 cam for cheap , grab it. otherwise run with the stock cam if money is an issue

I agree. I've seen dyno results on a turbo 5.3 with stock vs. Z06 cam. This cam will help a lot. Listen to the other posters that suggest this cam.

Yes i know about the LS6 cam, but i just want to get the car going. It's been sitting for three years. It's a LT-LS swap car weighing in at probably 3300 with me in it. But i was looking for results of anyone who has ran this set up. I am currently running on my driver a MP T70 with a Torquer V2 and that cam pulls hard with that turbo at 5lbs.

I would use an Fbody cam over the truck 5.3 cam. The 5.3 cam is anemic at best.
If you have it laying around use it. 12-19 degrees more duration (98-00).

LM7 190/191 on a 114
98-00 202/210 on a 116
01-02 197/207 on a 116

o, well sounds like it sucks. yea i bet plenty of people willing to ship you a stock f body cam for the cost of shipping.. or find somebody local to pick up freebie style.

I have two 02 cams laying around. I might try to find a cheap LS6 cam but you can't beat free when trying budget.

It will be a noticeable gain over the stock 5.3l cam for sure, I would do it on a tight budget.
