Default how much boost w/ je flat top?

how much boost can run with a 2004 z06 ls6 block and crank,h-beam rods ,317 heads 72cc,all arp studs, and Finlay je -2cc flat tops 194883.total seal rings.
9.6 :1 should be close.

did this so i can take the ptk style turbo kit off some day.

what turbo? you cannot just ask how much boost because it could would be possible to handle 36psi from a 50a/r turbo but maybe only 10lbs from a 1.1 a/r turbo.. these aren't actual suggestions, just letting you know 14lbs of boost from one turbo is not the same as 14lbs of boost from another turbo

Are they JE's or JE SRP?.

As noted above, this is going to be a tough question. If you can avoid detonation with a perfect tune, that will help a lot.

Default sorry

i was hoping for a quickie
i assumed all ptk kit users had 66/70 mm turbos, mine are67mm/t3,t4 hybrid 70mm compressors,68mm turbines ,rate @600hp ea.
i want to be able to keep it at 600whp/700 once and awhile.
with stock bottom @5 lbs. 503whp/523tq.
7lbs. ~550
thanks for the help

The cheaper SRP's will even be fine at that power.
If you are running the premium JE's with the 1218 material, then you will hurt other things like head gaskets etc (assuming a good tune) before hurting the pistons.

I agree with this. I would trust them up to about 10psi on a well thought-out turbo setup, ringpack and excellent tune.

I believe the 600whp max NA assumes a much higher engine speed than you will be turning.

Some meth would be good insurance here.

the i don't get is how the stock pistons can run in 600whp+ range but a $700.00 dollar forged one has the same limits.my thinking was stock ran 7psi all day,14psi for the forged, that simple.
thanks for the help ,i will run them,
mike

I am using SRP pistons and I am at 650 RWHP and plan to push it alot more. There is no reason that a forged SRP piston can not hold up.

SRP's are a 'mild' power adder design. I agree they are pretty sturdy - I have them in my current 383, but I called them a couple weeks ago and asked what 'mild' meant to them. Their answer was "about 12psi". I'd sure hate to find the upper limit on my own. That's why I specced the high-end JE piston for my new high-boost 421.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the stock pistons are hypereutectic. They are quite strong but can literally shatter with a strong detonation, which is a lot more probable under higher boost levels.

No, they are JE 15 degree LS1:

15º LS1

Featuring our traditional style full round skirt, these pistons are designed for the stock rod (.945" dia.wrist pin) or aftermarket/small block chevy (.927" dia. wrist pin) connecting rods. Flat top design achieves compression ratios suitable for normally aspirated applications (CR calculated with .057" gasket thickness and +.010" deck clearance). Pistons are machined for 1.5, 1.5, 3mm rings.

Part # CID Bore Stroke Rod Lgth. Block Ht. Comp.Ht.

194883 347 3.905 3.622 6.125 9.251 1.315

Found here:

http://www.jepistons.com/Catalogs/Au...SB/15_ls1.aspx

Your CR will be around 9.6:1. These should be OK for a boost level appropriate to your cam and CR.
