Default Lifted Head with ARP Studs Question

I finally made it to the track last sunday and after discovering a spark plug wire was not connected, trapped 127 in the quarter. The 60ft was terrible. After that pass I notice water boiling between the passenger head and the intake manifold so I believe I lifted the head and destroyed a head gasket.

Ill replace them with GM MLS gaskets (I believe thats what most are running). My question is, can i pull the head with the motor still in car? I have ARP studs so it looks like i wont have the clearance.

between head and intake? wrong area for headgasket imo...look at your coolant lines/bleeders on the tops of the heads...not sayin you didnt push the gasket, but more likely pushed air into the system and came out the coolant bleeders on the tops of the head

no tricks, it would make it easier if you pulled the studs but i have done it both ways. i would try to pressure test the coolant system and check for leaks before pulling a head.

Shouldn't be lifting the head at that power level, unless your are running pump fuel with too much ignition advance.

looked at the car yesterday, started it and let it idle, water started to puddle around the intake, reached around the back of the intake and felt some water, ill pull the intake off later, looks like you guess were right, thanks so much!

You're lucky that's all it was.
