Im running my stock LS1 radiator but it has direct access to a large amount of air and my IC's are on each side of it, so no air restrictions.

Im running a Be Cool with a Evans waterpump and coolant. Im at 160 even in the hot summer months Ide say the evans coolant is the bigger factor with me, as it just pulls more heat from the engine and heads then your regular antifreeze will. They have a big write up about it under their site. Its more like an oil based coolant that does burn it if in contact with your skin though LOLI know alot of guys that run the stock rad with just the evans and are at 180 all day long in the summer month and is rated to like 50 deg below 0 so it can be left in all year long (Its bad *** **** )IMO

$$$Ron Davis$$$ Once the two 14'' fans DO kick on, It's back down to 185* in under a minute. I run a meziere EWP as well. I'm thinking of adding an additional stewart inline pump for road racing.

I put in a Ron Davis rad this season and also got a high flow water pump not sure brand.
I took out my underdrive pulley and went to fluidampr non underdrive. I run 160 stat ,have fans coming on at like 170 off at 160 and run redline water wetter but with 50/50 mix of antifreeze and water.
Will see how this combo does this summer. We don't usually go much past 90 up here or for very long and I don't have to usually drive my 99TT on really hot days have lots of other drivers that can drive.
I am not expecting big problems. So far with stock rad has one near overheat last year, was also on stock water pump with underdrive. But think it was tune related as it was only like 70 degrees out that day and after fixed tune was driving on quite a few hotter days no problem. I don't usually use my air that much in town which helps as that is when you are mostly likely to get overheats. One trick if you are overheating or borderline is to run heater at full blast with heat on full. Not comfortable but it does work a lot of the time in borderline situations.
I would give evans a try. Thought had to use their waterpump but guess not so it might be in my future if think need it. That Ron Davis is a big rad but it fit in there ok. I got rid of my power steering inhose cooler and went to normal rad hose for more clearance.

according to the A/C Delco site the core for the LT1 and the LS1 is the same size, they are both 24 7/8in x 17 1/8in x 7/8in. so now my question would be why shouldn't i buy a better radiator if those are the same thing

Have no idea...I have a LT1 radiator in my SS and a buddy's procharged F1-C SS and the LT1 core is noticeably thicker.....not sure on how much but maybe 1/4"-3/8"

Go to napa and buy yourself a LT1 radiator....it was around $100

A/c condenser is totally separate....the transmission cooler is built into radiator if you have an automatic
