I posted in your other thread. I'd send the head unit to Procharger to have it inspected and have the impeller replaced.

I'm not sure I would feel comfortable bending those fins..I wouldn't risk your forged motor with a mad impellor. I had a couple rock chips on my f1a and were sanded smooth again, but I would contact ATI.

yeah I am waiting to hear back from what ATI has to say. I would love to get an impellor and do it myself but procharger will not do that. And the amount that it would cost to have them do it I just can't swing right now. Looks like the car might be sitting out another season.

What happened to bend the blades? If it was a procharger defect they should work with you...if not, maybe this is gods way of telling you to step up to the F series!

Cheap silicone 90* inlet elbow colapsed under boost and the impelller started eating it.

Talked to Procharger they said carefully try to bend the blades back. This is what they do. any that break can get filed down. They do repairs like this from time to time. Only other option is to have the impeller replaced. So I will attempt to repair.

If any break off, the impeller will likely be out of balance and this will shorten life of your bearings. Thanks for posting this - gives others a good warning about ability of FI engines to eat things and cost more $$.

I have seen cheap silicone at the head unit inlet to be the cause of a lot of problems for people over the years. I always recommend 4 and 5 ply silicone at the inlet, or a plastic inlet. The aluminum inlets we have tried in the past are tricky to keep on the inlet as the head unit flange is fairly short. Bob

They said they also will file down and clean up broken/ chipped blades and still run them.

Also it wasn't a super cheap thin elbow. It was like 3 layers oh well live and learn

I wonder if heating it would make it easier to bend back? Maybe a heat gun or hair dryer? Good luck

I was thinking the same thing. Heat should help prevent cracking the fits.

The guy at Procharger said not to heat them. I spent about 2 hours playing with it tonight

I got pretty well straightened out. Needs some finishing touches. Then I am gonna find a shop to balance it. Hopefully it works

that looks really good! ...id still be nervous about the integrity of the aluminum..im not sure what type aluminum that is casted out of..but if my choice was let the car sit for a season or drive it..id probably just give a few quick test runs and see what happens!!

Good luck!

That'd probably help but I'd try something with more heat, at least like a small handheld propane torch.

guys, think of the stresses and speeds at which that impellor spins, now think about the damage you might do by heating and cooling those fins at high speeds (heating and cooling very rapidly tends to harden and remove integrity from most metals). best to just keep the heat off it, especially because the amount of heat you would need to make a difference is far higher than the impellor normally encounters.

Exactly hence why procharger said not to use heat. That it would make it more likely to crack and fail.

I have a lead on a local Desiel eninge shop that repairs turbos that might be able to balance the impeller for me.
