The maf will be maxed out around 450 rwhp, then the tune is basically a speed density tune after that. A lot of cars run 700 to 800 rwhp with a maf, but visually they look better when you get rid of it. Bob

The important thing hear is to have proper fueling-which a maf will provide till 450-500rwhp as mentioned. After that you are relying on rpms and pe (power enrichment) for your fueling needs. This will work, but it is not accurate and consistent as a speed density tune. If you tune for today and next month its colder and you make more boost your air fuel will be leaner.
Speed density uses more input to calibrate your fueling requirements such as 2 or 3 bar map sensor, iat, rpms and ve. So your air fuel will always be what you set it for wether your making 10lbs of boost or 15lbs.
Your maf actually is not limiting you, its your pcm that is hard coded to read up to 512g. There are ways around this by fooling your pcm and cutting tables in half to extent the range, but not many people taking that approach.

Maf
I am not knocking SD or suggesting going MAF, What ever you feel comfortable with, its just when someone says "It cant be done" I have done a lot of R & D in the past years, trying dual MAF's, actually when I installed my kit back in the day the maf was in the intake side, I installed it on the pressure side and found more accuracy now all the kits place the maf on the pressure side, I'm not saying because of me they are doing this, I'm just saying I did all of this "YEARS" ago, Running 12+ pounds of boost on a stock PCM with a 2 bar map when that was said it couldnt be done ect. My fueling with the maf is spot on no matter what time of year and I have gone to different dynos at different cities, same results...It's all in the tune..

FYI for those that don't know: Moe does the tuning on my LTx car and I was just teasing him.
That's what Brian and I decided on my Vortech equipped car. We looked into going SD on that car and decided against it. It got upgraded to a ZO6 MAF too.
I have one "blow through" (Procharger) and one "pull through" (Vortech) car, and both are still running MAFs.
