Default Selecting a turbo for a fast spool 421ci 1000whp

What is available for something that spools pretty fast on a 421ci 8.5:1 compression engine? Around 1000whp max. And in a small package.
Something on the lower end of the price scale also.

I see S400's are priced pretty decent. They make a ton of different ones though, S400-78, S400-82 ETT, and a bunch more. Which would spool fast and put me where I want?

Or what other turbos are out there in that price range?

Im not opposed to a used one either.

Thanks.

Give forcedinductions a call. I imagine their Garrett budget series T6 units will be right up your alley.

wow...421ci...I would suggest the GT91 unit. Even it might be a touch on the small side for that size motor.

I was looking on your website, Do you know the outside dimensions of that GT91? And also I was looking at the S400-80ETT w/ a 96mm turbine wheel.....how would that be? which one would be dimension wise smaller in outside diameter?

GT91 is smaller then a S400 based turbo. The GT91 is 10"L X 9"WX8.5" T

For the 421, and wanting only 1000whp, would the 1.08 A/R be best? What would spool characteristics be like? Guestimate on what RPM to be fully spooled? 3500 would be ideal.

Why would a GT91 be almost too small? According to the list and by HP ratings a smaller one would work.

Might want to verify delivery times on the GT-91. I waited 14 months last year and never got it, had to change to a gt-88.

FWIW

Yeah last year the comp wheels were nationally back-ordered. The wait times on those unit were ridiculous. We no longer have that problem though.

Yup that little motor and the GT88 is a wild combo....a GT91 will be even wilder. 5.2's@140 should not be a problem.

Go to Garretts website. The Pro-mod is a GT55 based unit. Turbine housing is the only physical diff.
