Default 315 blowout on the highway

Running 75 on a nice Sunday drive, the *** end suddenly felt squirrelly while no one else was (thinking it was the road) .... and then the tire blew out. I'm working on the road hazard insurance that I have.

My question is, there are a few slight bends on the rim. Can it be repaired?

Yes wheels can be repaired. I have several people with everything from bad curb rash to bends have them fixed with a local shop I know.

That's great news. That's a 500 dollar rim.

I know its a few hundred to fix them right, so it might be cheaper to just get a new rim. I would check around locally and see the cost.

Looks fixable to me. As long as there aren't any cracks it should be fixable.

Darn. How old were the tires? Or dry rotted?

Didn't you just get this wheel and tire package earlier this year? With that in mind, tire age definitely shouldn't have been an issue.

That really sucks.

Yes ... just got them a few months ago. I have extended warranty on the tires and rims so that's a very good thing.

I inspected that tire throughly yesterday and there was no rubbing in the fender well or on the inner side of the tire. It's still connected to the rim. There was no punctures or anything. I had just checked tire pressure the day before. I won't have to worry about repairing the rim since I have warranty.

That thought actually crossed my mind, That rubbing and damage occurred when my tire thrashed the fender well at 75 MPH. The lug nut was purposely left off as 4 were enough for the wrecker driver to put on the flat bed.

Also ... if it was rubbing enough to cause it to blow out, you would see evidence of that on the inner tire and that side wall still looks good as new.

Here's a shot of the inside of the rim. Also while the tire was thrashing the hell out of my fender well, it bent the lower well.
