Default ebay intercooler HP limit?

Whatever size everyone uses, I think they are like 12x30x4, what kind of HP are they efficient up to? I did search for "ebay intercooler" and didnt find much info.

I currently have a 12x30x4" one and plan on making upwards of 1000whp.
Has anyone took 2 of these and cut the end tanks off, sandwiched them together and made one 8" thick? and then fabricated new end tanks? Im cheap and dont want to buy an expensive one.

Thanks.

How about just doing a water to air?

That would involve a whole lot more.

yes, but this aint a 550hp build. if your goal is 1000 wheel hp, an air to water would not be a whole lot more work than other aspects of the build

i think kp went 8's on one, quite a few in 9's as well

at 1k levels i would be looking elsewhere, but i plan to take mine between 700-800

road race and long drawn out pulls would need a better intercooler than a drag/street race setup as well

Ive made 800-900 on a few procharger/turbo builds with the 4" "Ebay" style FMIC.
We did use methanol on all of these as well with intercooler temps no higher than 90-100 degrees (20-30 over ambient). No complaints on them here.

been 9.30s and 850rwhp with one and it and others we have done have a few years on them with no issues. Logged IATs on 600hp setups going DOWN from 98* to low 90s-high 80s during 3rd gear pulls in summer heat.

We ran a 9.12 at 146 mph (driving through the converter which wiped out the transmission) with my '99 Z28, with one of these intercoolers. No methanol was used, and the IAT's weren't bad at all. I would think this intercooler would work with getting into the 8.50 to 8.60 1/4 range. Bob

hey guys just signed up and browsing through the FI posts. As for the "ebay intercoolers" they work just the same as everyother air to air cooler on the market. Buy it, use it if the car dose'nt make 1k at the wheels blame the "ebay intercooler" If it makes more than 1k you get to laugh at the guys who spend thousands on brand name air to air coolers!!!

I was curious to what it actually flowed, how restrictive it is once you get to what amount of HP. Anyone have any of that info?

Some of the coolers I seen on there did list the flow numbers. Not saying that they are 100% true but they do list them.
