Default Pt76gts, run an oil restrictor?

My friend had to run one on his old 76gts setup. I seem to have a small amount of oil coming out of my downpipe. Turbo is a fresh rebuild from precision. Would a restrictor cure this?

I had a TC78 on my car(LY6) and never smoked or used any oil. Replaced it with a new PT7675, which I think is the same as a 76gts, and with no changes it smoked like a chimney and pushed oil into the compressor and turbine. I put smaller and smaller restrictors on it until it stopped, it still smokes around 100 degrees on cold mornings but stops by 130 degrees (engine temps)

Precision and a few dealers told me to not run a restrictor and send the turbo back to Precision, Im just running it as is and hoping it doesn't fail from lack of oil. I have a little over 1000 miles on it so far. I was afraid if I sent it back they'd keep it for a month or two and then tell me I did something wrong and charge me a bunch of money to rebuild it and have the same problem.

What size restrictor ended up working for you?

I have the same turbo and had the same problems. I did use a couple fittings that restricted the oil flow.... I dont remember what exactly. I can check tomorrow.
Also... how big is your drain line and is it a downhill?

My drain is a -10.. i ave a straight drop off the turbo and then it levels out and into the pan. This is a KYTP kit that i bought off sluggish on here. I mirrored his drain that worked well for him.

I had to clock my drain to about 30 degree angle to get a straighter shot to the pan. I tried it first pointing straight down and my line had to level out before it hit the pan. Basically the same kit you have. You need to make sure your line is always going slightly downhill. I wouldn't ever run a restricto in a journal bearing turbo.

You run the wide open -4 with your PT76GTS? No smoke or anything? hmm...

Also what do you guys do to vent crankcase pressure?

im venting crankcase to atmosphere and running a 4an line no restricter i think 10an drain.. no problems at all. I think oil problems could be a combination of high crankcase pressure and a bad drain angle?

I run a -4 feed line with no restrictor and a -10 drain line on my 76GTS with no smoke or anything. My TC76 smoked when my drain was basically vertical, I angled the center section drain roughly 30 degrees towards the oil pan and it solved my smoking issues. My turbo is mounted very low just like yours and it needed a straighter shot to the oil pan to avoid backing up in the drain line.

I run this setup for my PCV setup

Nitroused383, what catch can are you running? Also, any engine bay pics of your catch can setup?

Sorry JT, I am in the process of figuring out my PCV setup as well.

Unrestricted -3 feed with a vertical -10 drain and good crankcase evacuation. No smoke here.
