Default picked up a spare 6.0 shortblock... need some things...

ive been doing some shopping but honestly i know some of you know where to get everything maybe all at one place... so i figured i would ask...

its a 99 shortblock

i wanna get arp rod bolts since the rod caps were all off on this motor
and i wanna get arp head studs.

and ls9 headgaskets. 40-50?

anyone wanna get rid of some stock 317 heads? lol

thanks brotato's

honestly contemplating some pistons and rods for this bottom end, the motor will be waiting for when im done with the 5.3 and the 80mm

are there stock replacement compstar rods and diamond pistons that are direct swap ins i can do and just file my own rings?

As long as the bores look good, have at it. Remember, 6.125" is different then 6.098" (stock)

My point is, be careful to get the correct pistons with the correct rods.

I order alot of stuff through speedinc, they usually have 5% off, which doesnt sound like much but when you buying everything its a good savings.

I mainly use speedinc since I am in Canada and they never hassle me when I ship to a UPS store in my buddies name. Works out WAY better for me. Just give them a shout. Super nice guys and very helpful. When I built my 370 single T6 setup they were very helpful for cam/timing set and oil pump setup. I also buy a lot from Summit. It’s only a 3 hour drive so usually me and the guys get together and buy a ton.

If you just use the stock rods, I would get them re-sized when you put the rod bolts on.

nah i wanna do rods and pistons, the guy i got the block from said it might have been pulled as a piston slap motor, so i figured instead of resizing rods, and ******* with piston slap etc, why not just get rods, rod bolts together and pistons that are offset and built for no slap and that can take a beating, by the time im done hammering this 5.3 with my 80mm ill most likely want to go even bigger.

Hats off to finally doing it right!

Make sure you properly size the dish in your piston for the heads you run.... e85 likes around 10:1 compression with boost

i stopped at my friends dealership and picked up the headgaskets for like 86 dollars with tax today

i called speed inc and ordered up...
callies compstars with arp 2000 rod bolts
wiesco pistons with a -11cc dish wich we figured will be a low 9:1 compresison with the ls9 gaskets and 317 heads.
and i also picked up a set of ARP head studs.

gunna have someone cut the block and then i will assemble it.

gunna shoot for like 1k hp on that 80-88mm down the road on 20-22lbs race gas and methanol...

what do you guys gap at with proven combinations upper and lower ring... 20-22? 25?
