Here is an idle clip of my Huron Speed turbo kit. LSA heads/LS9 cam on 2 bar SD tune. The idle is 880-900 and runs great. Nothing goofy going on at all.

hey guys, sorry to pull this thread back but I had a question in regards to this ls9 cam..

1sickZ you said you recommend upgrading springs after 11 #s, what did you upgrade to?

Im looking for a set of springs with a minimum of ~ .6 lift probably dual spring..

But my question, if/when i do this, will the stock rocker from my 799 heads be the right ratio? I'm finding that 1.7 is the right rocker to use with this setup, and Im not able to find what ratio the 799 rockers use.?!

PAC1218 springs are 140 dollars
and use all stock hardware, seals and keepers.

thanks .. I picked up set of PAC 1211X, a couple hours before u posted, paid bout the same and they are very similar.

Got the ls9 cam, front plate, already have a 1x gear on the motor, sensor, gaskets and seals. Heads should be here next week sometime (799's)

stock rockers are 1.7 ratio... infact all are except ls7 (1.8). Picked up some literature and doing some reading. need to know this stuff

Ls7 cam is identical, just a different lsa. LObe lift on the cam is the same, the ls7 lift appears higher because of the 1.8 rocker

Hey guys I'm doing this cam in my 07 impala SS can anyone verify if I need to use the 3 bolt conversion gear and any other input would be awesome also what push rods my motor is a 5.3 ls4

"The LS9 camshaft is a 3 bolt design and will use the Lingenfelter 3 bolt cam conversion kit if you are installing it in a single bolt application like the 2007 – 2010 LS2 or LS3. If you are installing it in an earlier LS1 or LS6 engine with the cam sensor at the back of the engine you will need a 2005 LS2 front cover, 2005 1x cam sprocket, camshaft extension harness, 2005 LS2 chain dampner."

Just to clarify, you only need to replace the front cover if you need the cam signal? If you are using Megasquirt 2 and only using the crank sensor you can just swap the cam?

I would always encourage you to run sequential if the ecu allows it, it will help if you're using larger injectors.

But if you do not need a cam signal because you're using a TDC referenced crank trigger like 60-2 or 36-1 etc, then any front timing cover will do.

That said LPE etc sell front timing cover kits with the cam sensor for very little money

I'm new to the ls game as well as so many others lol my main question is, with running a ls9 cam in my 5.3 lm7 what are the specs for the cam bearings? Can factory lm7 spec cam bearings be ran!

Yes all factory LS's use the same cam bearings

Same ID, some earlier vs. later models have a slightly different OD. but I believe there are only 2 different variations of Cam bearing sizes for all LS platforms (not sure about LSX, I think they are different than OE)

However all cams will fit due to the same ID of the bearings.

So nice that so many parts are interchangeable with these LS motors...

Since this thread has some miles on it here is an article by Super Chevy that ran the LS9 vs a bigger LJS Stage 2. That way we can get another example of how it performs in a specific turbo application. For a $100-130 cam, I'd say it performed quite admirably.

One thing that has me curious is the difference in positive manifold pressure from one to the other. I surmise this is because the gate controller only looks at preset duty cycles rather than actual manifold pressure... I never used a turbo smart controller so I am not sure.
