TU1 vs Tick stage 1 vs Z06 cam
Doing a 76mm turbo/5.3 stock bottom end build for my 98 formula. 90% street with 4L80e.
Also what size stall would you recommend with
3.23 gears?
Thanks

The TU1 has been a pretty proven cam already, but the stuff Martin has been doing is also pretty impressive. I would say it would be a toss up between those two. I wouldn't do the LS6 cam (unless you are budget limited to a stock cam). Maybe the newer lobes and design of the Tick cam will net you some more power? I can't remember when the TU1 cam was released but it has been a long time ago.... that's just my .02.
Maybe someone with some first hand experience with either one of those cams will pop in here.... or maybe Martin himself.

If it were me I'd go with the tu1. That cam has been proven so many times again and again. . Also make sure your using a quality turbo, WG, bov and, valve springs . spend the money where it's needed! Then worry about the cam. Just my 2cents!

I've got another shelf cam that I think would work slightly better with your engine being a 5.3. I like to use the Stage one 226/226 114 cam more so on larger LS1 engines or heavier vehicles that need slightly shorter exhaust events to try and cut back as much as possible on excessive drive pressure and build slightly more low end. Seeing you have a 5.3 in a F-body we can exend the exhaust duration some. Unfortunately that cam hasn't been added to the site, but that's something Joey's been working on. This is our busiest time of year and we're swamped right now! Let me know if there's anything I can help you with about your combination!
Thanks for all the recommendations guys. BTW cam specs on that cam are:
278/286@.006"
226/231@.050"
148/149@.200"
114LSA 111ICL 117ECL
226/231 .605"/.598" 114+3

think i may have asked you this before, i know I asked someone. but how hard is it to get some kind of choppy/lumpy idle with a boost cam. i have a huge 239/247 .657 112lsa cam in my LS2 right now and love the sound. i know ill be losing that but id love just a little still??

He is ditching the LS2 for a 5.3l this time around for boost. He has not picked out a turbo yet.... as far as I know. I would like to see him in a T-series 7675

im highly considering the stage one turbo cam.
for some additional info, with all things equal and effiecnt in their fields:
- what would one look for in a cam when it comes to a rear mount turbo
- and vis versa in a front mount turbo?
...say with a common size of T76 turbo, with apropriate turbine housing size, in a 5.7L for a common ground?

I really like my tu1 cam and combined with the TC78 the spool was incredibly quick. It's not peak numbers that are the end all be all, but how quick you can get into boost and carry that to redline. I'm going for a retune shortly on my PT7675 so we shall see how well it does as the tc78 did choke a bit up top with the smaller turbine wheel which would probably not be as much of an issue with a 5.3 at 15psi.
BTW, tc78 for sale, pm for details

You're going going to end up going custom then it may benefit you to talk to a few different people but pick someone's route and stick with it. I emailed back and for with Don from Slowhawk a ton and will be ordering my cam from him once my turbo comes in (He told me to have Jose from Forced Inductions decide which turbo).
My point is that it may behoove you to ask Martin (or someone that he suggests) about stall speed, turbo selection, gear ratio, compression ratio (if you're going to have heads milled), etc. if he is going to spec your cam. In my opinion, this is the best way to get an efficient combo.
