Done all the time, if the Turbo is too low to feed/drain or a rear-mount.

If its high enough, gravity drain it, no reason not too, unless you are doing something trick.

If you are going low/rear use the best pump on the market, Turbowerx EXA and never worry about it.

i did this on my V1 of my rear mount setup.
a work or advise is make sure you use a oil filter in the system as not having one can and will cost you a turbo as me how i know. also a oil cooler isnt a bad idea.
you will also need to bypass some of the oil after the pump but before the turbo to help take some of the load off the pump.
feel free to pm me im happy to help you out any way i can

Why not feed the oil above the filter or the oil pressure sending port and then drain it to the oil pan?

I dont mean to be a dick, or any of that. But do you think that all the Manufacturers that put turbos on cars prime theirs?

I commend being different, and things of that nature,i really do, but if your putting the turbo up front, why? It really is going to add a lot of un-needed potential problems. I can see rear mount, maybe. But front mount, the oil is right their, drains back on its own, etc.

What if the pump fails? Do you own an accusump deal? The one that will prime your motor before you start it?

I think all it would do make things more expensive and have more parts that could possibly fail. I would only do it if its absolutely needed. Even in a rear mount situation, i still use engine oil and use a pump to send it back.

There are a couple of guys who did this. One on an S10 with turbos mounted in the bed, and another was a vette with twin rear mount turbos.

I think this is a valid thought. I have been thinking of the same thing on my dragster. My thought is turbos, in performance applications, are not filtered the best (or at all). the engine is bound to last longer than the turbo. If the turbo ran in its on oil, when it started to get shaft play ( bearing wear), the contaminates will not be in your cam, main, and rod bearings. I am not saying I am right, but it makes some sense.
what about using a power steering pump setup? or is that totally stupid?
