We currently hold the record with a 6 speed supra. and yes, if you're pockets are deep enough and you know how to drive, 7 second passes are possible while rowing through the gears. car was a 3.4 stroker with a pro mod 91 on it and a custom irs 9" rear end

This is just my opinion I agree it does take a good amount of money to purchase the right components to make the hp and suspension to run that # but you don't have to be rich. I'm no where near rich but I have poked away at my car over the past few years now focusing on more suspension pieces to get me to my goals. It takes someone who knows there car and concentrates on set up and tune it's all in the suspension set up witch all of you know. I think there arnt many record setting stick f body's because people make the big jam and love the consistency of a auto and don't wana mess around with trying to figure out a stick car nor can throw gears fast enough

I'm curious what you fast 6 speed turbo guys are running as far as rear end gear ratio? I'm bulding a 408 with s480 right now and planning on running a tick level 4 magnum trans. It seems like everybody goes th400 and I even thought about it myself but I decided to stick with the extra pedal. So without too many fast 6 speed turbo guys out there, I'm having trouble deciding on what gear ratio to run.

Look at all yge money we waste on these cars lol. What's 8000 in the big picture. I I know if I keep my car for another 10 years I will sink at least another 20,000 into itif not more that's just the way I am.

What are people's thoughts on 6 speed sequential gear boxes? Does that count as a 6-speed?
I personally love seeing guys row fast cars to a fast time. Sure, it's less consistent than having a slush box do the shifting, but it's more exciting to see someone row the gears to me. It's more of a challenge, and as such, the reward is greater.

I love these threads that pop up every now and then, making it seem almost trivial. You guys should hang out in the 6 speed section more. There is plenty of discussion regarding going fast with a T56 speed....The issue is weight and power. People haven't kept the 6 speed alive while simultaneously making the car light enough and making enough power. Either the car doesn't make the power to go 8's or it does make the power but it weighs too much and destroys the T56. The torque that the boosted LS motors make over the curve, combined with the weight, always kills the trans; even with trans mods like the oil sprayers on the 3/4 gear. I think it can be done, but it will take a sub 3000lb fbody and ALOT of money in the clutch/trans. It'll have a better shot with a slow 60' and a ton of top end.
Good luck to 99bluefbody trying to go 8's while keeping to class weight rules.
Alchemist...In my opinion, no way a 6 speed sequential counts. Faceplated T56 is about the limit, which I believe is what Joe Honeycutt had.
