Ls1 block: How much can it hold?
I have an extra ls1 block. Looking to build a motor for my Camaro. Car currently is a sbe pt7675 on e85. It went 10.20s this past weekend. I know ls1curt went 8s on the stock block. Just curious what people have made on the ls1 block and reliability? Thanks for the help

An aluminum block can take 1000 no problem but people sayyy that around ~900 the walls tend to distort over time and with miles, especially if its primarily a highway car. This is a very subjective statement though, as it really depends on your driving habits/style and of course the tune. The common trend is to go iron when you are planning over 800 on an ls1.
I have been over 600 for the past 2 years with the last year over 700. 3-4k miles and a lot of highway pulls.

LOL stock all ls1 except cam with a s475 on 17psi made 755 pumpgas/meth on a less than 6000rpm dyno pull. Now on 20psi and plan to test the limit before I put a forged engine in. 22psi or whatever the turbo will push. Engine is still going strong. Im very surprised. I was under the impression that the ls1 was the weaker engine. Guess I got a lucky one.
Im building an iron 5.3 though. Forged all the strength stuff.

I have a forged ls1 with a stock crank. Hoping to get around 850-900whp out of my setup with more fueling. Currently puts down 735whp and 920wtq. No issues so far.
