Default Holset H1C

Was hoping someone could give me some advice about a Holset H1C turbo I was looking at for real cheap for a budget build. I was hoping to use this turbo in a rear mount application. I can get it for real cheap so I'm hoping it would work but want to see if someone here could give me some advice. Very modest power goals, don't want a monster setup.

Thanks.

I used an old H1C with an upgraded compressor wheel and turbine housing from bullseye power. They rated the turbo to 650 HP with the upgrades. I didn't have any issues with it. I was a big fan of holset after this, especially since it was an OEM turbo and was extremely reliable. I picked it up for a couple hundred bucks and couldn't have been happier.

With that said, some of the Chinese turbos can match even an upgraded holset in power output for about the same price.

How much were the upgrades?

H1C on early non-intercooled 12v cummins was 50mm. H1C on intercooled, first gen 12v cummins was 54mm. WH1C was on 94-94.5 12v cummins. WH1C is basically an 8-bladed HX35. 54mm H1C flowed around 48-49lb/min.

HX52 with the billet wheel is an awesome 67mm turbo for the price!

They're getting kind of hard to find now though.

HT3B work well(in my diesel experience) and are pretty cheap. depends on your HP goal though.
