I use the smaller of the two B&M Hi Tek with the Spal fan. Paired with John Deere Hygard fluid it seems to run just fine. Admittedly I havent driven it in summer temps though but I dont think Ill have an issue. It is mounted where my stock muffler goes and has -6an lines.

Well car has only been really driving for a couple months and no extended trips just yet. I think the furthest was around 20 miles round trip, but it was in mild traffic and tranny temps never got over about 160 even leaning on the car a little. So far so good. I do have decent quality synthetic fluid in it though. No radiator assistance, just using it as a stand alone cooler. That being said, it has not been out in weather over about 70 degrees yet.

The trans isn't going to get hot in normal driving. Won't really even get hot drag racing, unless you hot lap.
Driving up a big long hill on the highway will get it cooking good with too small a cooler.
I have the large B&M no fan, under the car like sarg. There just was no place to put the sucker up front.
Of course I put it right where I'd like to eventually run an exh pipe....
I find the best way not to worry about trans temp is to not run a gauge......
Ha!

I've got the atomic cool under the passenger seat and it is working but not very well. 220 temps cruising around with the fan on. I will have to re locate it somewhere else and see if it makes a difference. Problem is 3700lbs and TH400 so i have a lot working against me.

I have a Derale Hyper cool with a fan mounted where my drivers side fog lamp was so it gets some air through the fog hole. My temp sender is in the case so its going to read hotter as well. Street driving in under 70 degree weather it barely gets over 110 degrees, 80+ degree days it will get around 140 degrees cruising around. The only time its gotten to 210 on the gauge, probably around 195-200 at the trans sensor was when I hot lapped it at the track. Brake boosting on the line bakes the fluid pretty quickly but with the fan on it came down pretty quickly.
