Help me spec a Twin Turbo Parts List
Im looking to build a twin turbo LSX for my 69 Camaro project.
The car will be setup for 100% street use. I want good quick street able power. Not looking for power only up top. I would like a good broad power band that comes on early.
Plans are a built 408 Iron block. I already have a new T56 Magnum, Ford 9" with 370 gears and my rear tires are just under 26" tall.
Im looking for specs on the following or suggestions.
Rotating Assembly
Heads
Rockers
Turbos
Wastegates
BOV's
etc. I was thinking dual 58mm turbos.

Save the money on the 408 and build a smaller engine. The stock cranks handle far more than that easily. Build the 6.0 blockblock, stock crank, about any aftermarket rod, forged pistons, stock rockers with upgraded trunnions, have the 317 heads from the 6.0 ported and roll with it. The 58's would get you there but its a big enough motor to spool a larger turbo and be street friendly. Mine spools part throttle driving spiritedly around town. (Not exceeding 40 mph) cam I would have custom ground and there is only 1 or 2 people I'd trust with that.

Get a couple of those and all you need are the turbos, intercooler, and piping. I'm running one on a 4.3 Silverado and it spools very early and is all in at just over 3000 rpm and holds there. If you run one on each bank they will probably start to come in at around 2000 rpm which is perfect for street since you can cruise most of the time without boost and then right when you get on it boost is there. Don't discount the cheap ebay turbos, I was AMAZED at the quality of the casting and the rotating assembly. My casting looked better than a lot of the big name brands I have seen that are 10 times as much. Main think is to just build the crank/rods/head gaskets/bolts are up to the HP level you want. I wouldn't worry about cam since 14.7 psi of boost will shove it in.

600hp will come so easy. Don't get talked into a turbo with a big compressor wheel.
2000RATA makes over 1000 to the tire on less than 17psi with little 61's. There is a little math to specking the right turbo.

+1 I was putting down 1145 on 25-26 lbs of boost with 62's on a 402 LQ9. A 408 is going to push the envelope, I'd wager you will want more if you don't take the advice on going with a 6.0. I had a 402 LQ9 with Diamond -28 cc dished pistons Eagle forged rods and an Eagle forged crank. I went to an LSx with 434 CI, Callies Magnum crank Lunati Rods and Wiesco Pistons. Going for higher compression and more power with lower boost.

Yeah guys, i want a strong reliable car that has power on demand that I can go bigger with at will.
As for twins, its all about the looks, i won't do a single because of the lack of symmetry.
