Default The Super Budget Stock LS1 Turbo Build

So I Have a 1999 Camaro SS, Lid, exhaust, Custom Tune... Best pass so far is a 13.3 @ 107 2.0 60ft on street tires, not terrible... But all the rage of being boosted has gotten to me lol! So I have gotten a great deal from a buddy whose looking to go a different direction in his setup, so we struck a deal and I'mTaking his turbo kit! Basically I'm getting a hotside kit that retains AC(my DD so very important lol) with stock K member, also the cold side, oiling etc. However this is going to be a CHEAPPP build, as in pretty much a stock LS1! Looking to make ~450-500whp on a stock engine and stock CR!
My parts list as of now:

Phamspeed Hot side piping
Cold side piping and intercooler- Ebay
JBA Shorty's Powdercoated
Tial 44mm Wastegate
Turboxs RFL BOV
Manual boost controller- Ebay
BTR Hardened Pushrods
BTR .560 lift springs
Walbro 255
Siemens Mototron 60# Injectors
Turbo will be a ~ T70 .81 A/R (still deciding)
Stock Heads
EFI Live Custom Tune

Should be fun/interesting lol
I'll keep updating the progress and pics!

Btw this is my For Sale Thread for things I'm trying to get rid of!

Intercooler is a 24X12X4" CX Racing

Hot side is the original PhamSpeed kit from back in the day with 16AWG JBA shorty's powdercoated.

I'll be posting a demod thread now that I will be unboosted

I'd go with a bigger turbo. That's going to run out of steam really quickly

I'm not looking to make crazy power, it's my DD and the engine is basically stock besides valve train, and stock compression! I'd be happy with ~450-500whp with this setup!

Should make 550 on a 7lb gate spring. Looks like a solid build, I would do 2 255s though.

one 400 would probably be easier and definitely support the power he wants to make too. 2 255s works too though

Day 2
Removed front bumper, bumper support, headers, y pipe, radiator, hood.... Nothing terrible yet, tomorrow will be much worse, replacing motor mounts since this will be the easiest access I'll ever have of doing them

If you decide to go with the t72. I would get the .81 housing over the .96 exhaust housing. The exhaust flow will match the compressor flow better. It's gonna be lighting fast spool. That's for sure. I'm really considering a t72 with a .81 ar exhaust housing for my stock lq4.

I would go with the first one. I imagine these are ebay turbos you are looking at and tend to be on the small side.

Bingo lol
Being a DD, I don't mind some lag, if I could be at full boost by ~3500 that would be nice but I don't want to breathe on the throttle and being in boost all the time in city traffic

i had an on3 76mm with the .81 turbine on a stock ls1 (just had valvesprings) and it was pretty much instant spool, the car had 4.10's at the time too.

I'd do another pump, 80's, and a bigger turbo.

That's what I'm afraid of, why I was leaning towards the .96 A/R
I'm only 3.42's so that might better then yours but still

i would run the .96. Also, if anything it would spool better with the 3.42's. You can always tailor the tune around what you want the car to do.

Day 3
Attempted the horrifying motor mount replacement today!
Actually went much smoother then anticipated, took me and a buddy ~2 hours to complete!
Also decided to grind down the rust under the battery tray and repaint it so it doesn't get any worse in the future! While waiting for it to dry I popped off the drivers side valve cover to see how things look and get ready for valve spring and PR

So after a very busy work week and being out of town a couple days, we were back at it today finally and got some more work done
Got the oil pan tapped
Headers and crossover pipe in
Most of the coldside pipe fitted and the GIANT intercooler in
Custom/Hacked Walbro 340 fuel pump assembly
Try to ignore how filthy the car is right now lol
